race: CLS-6speed vs S2000 who would win?
The S2000 is quite hard to drive properly... so there are two scenarios:
(1) NOVICE: CL-S 6spd will win easily
(2) DECENT: A Driver's race... CL-S will need Headers
(3) EXPERT: S2000 will win by 1-car length... CL-S will need Headers
With more mods on the CL-S 6spd... it should take the S2000. There isn't too much you can do to the S2000 without taking things apart and spending a lot of $$$

If the driver doesn't launch high enough... the S2000 will bog and by the time it even gets to its power-band... the CL-S will be like 4 cars ahead... and there's no way the S2000 will catch up before the end of the 1/4.

Raced s2ks twice.
had the edge both the time by half a car!
Its easy to win...BUT i still have to meet a GOOD DRIVER in a s2k.
Even the mags have the most inconsistent times on the s2k ranging from 0-60 times of 5.2 secs/// to 6.3

Gentlemen, gentlemen, remember the S2000 is only a 4 cylinder with some power. But consider the power to weight ratio. I think it could be a close race with all things considered. I have to give the S2000 a very slight edge.
well this will sound nutz
But I rmbr seeing someone post somewhere a stock 1/4 mile of 13.6 for the s2k, don't ask me how, but its been dome at 13.6. If the driver is better in the s2k than in the cl-s, i'd give the edge to the s2k

CLS is very fast, but the S2000 has exremely low weight and can get good traction because do RWD and LSD.
I would bet on the S2000, especially with a good driver to manage the lack of power down low.
Throw in some turns and there is no chance for the CL (or most cars)

Well I traded in my S2000 for this car because it was more pratical for someone 6'1. Anyway I had a good one..id did 13.8@99 stock...then i put in a Toda Flywheel, Apexi N1 mufflers on custom piping, Fuel Pressure regulator, and a AEM cAI..it did 13.6@ 101. But anyway..get to this subject. Last week my friend bought a 00 s2000. He called me to meet him to go see it. I did. I asked if we could line them up because id like to see how close the CL would be to him. We did this twice. And twice i was pulling on him to 90mph..it wasnt a fast pull..it was one like..i gained space with every shift kinda thing. But i was stoked about it all. We are good friends and I dont call him out about the race during our import hangouts here on weds...but he has told everyone that i beat him...but i still cant believe it. Next we are going to go out on I-40..and run to see if he catches up on topend. Which he could. When VTEC.net test drove the 6 spd..they mention that they used a S2000 as the chase vehical wiht the camera. They said the S really had a hard time keeping up. Especially when they were powering out of a curve. So im personally impressed. Loved the s2000..but they break to much to have as a daily drive. Till next time guys...

at 6' 1, how did you do it? I'm 6'1, and I couldn't even stretch my legs enough to uncross them, let alone step on any pedals!
you are right..but most s2000's run 14.4 to 14.0...I had a "wednesday" motor. Thats what honda thinks anyway. But if the S does low 14's..and the CLS6 low to mid..its all about to driver is what my point is...OMG if i were to race my old s2000..NO WAY would i beat it. Im just talking about my friends s2000.
As for your question torqueaholic. Im tall but im lean...Have a runners build...Im 6'1 but im 160-165lbs. So thats how i fit. the seat was back just enough so that i could recline it one notch too. So that i wouldnt be sitting straight up. Oh by the way..boy did it snow here in wilmington yesterday. first big snow in ten since 1989 when we got 12"..thats unheard of here on the coast.

), and I have long legs. I couldn't even move an inch in that cabin. But even with your stature, it sounds like the cls6spd would seem like a different world(in terms of space), comming from the S?
I remember reading ( i think it was sport compact mag) the review for the comptech supercharged s2k. 0-60 It actually lost 0.1 seconds. Quarter mile it gained only 0.2 They blamed it all on trction even though it had better tires then stock.
Beats me.

I would have to agree w/most people here. If both drivers are equal in skill. I believe that the s2k would beat the cls. The s2k isn't as practical to have as a daily driver and only car though.
I too traded in a S2000 for the CL-S. The S would only beat out the CL-S if the S launched with a 6,000+++RPM clutch drop. And the drive train on the S can't take much of that! The CL-S is much stronger on the low RPM side than the S2000.
