and also make sure to only use HONDA ATF, all other fluids do not have enough anti-foaming qaulities to them, so it basically just foams excessivly and comes righ out the vent tube
so is the tranny basically soaked in atf on the front left courner (underneth the battery basically) and backwards from there???, then along the driverside framerail to the back is also covered in ATF, and then the back of the car is also coated in ATF/oily film also

Sucks so you got the car in January of this year and had it less than 2 months before tranny failed and you gave up on the car. I would say replace tranny to tl accord or odyssey too, but seeing as he is 18 and looks like his/their minds are made up already. Also I would assume it is up to his parents, and parents dont like doing anything that isnt original.

yea like everyone else has said 6speed swap, tl, accord, oddy swap. i did a 3g tl swap and its running great. ive put 6k on the tranny so far. if your looking for the faster route i say tl, accord, oddy its alot less work involved. my swap only took a day and a half.

if it makes u feel any better I bought my car approximately 1 yr ago and after only 81600kms ..96000kms which was 3-4 months
I chose to just get the trans completely redone since i didn't want to potentially deal with some other issue.and all had gone swell.. i'm at 116000kms right now and no signs of any problems. cost me just under 2g and got the front trans mount, all new gears, new low holds gear and a transtar tq converter.

yeah right at fred meyer. well the tranny was dry but we added fluid to it and limped back home. it would go about ten feet and then it would disengage. had to shut the car off and restart it. go another ten feet and so on. super scary. the car was free so im not worried about losing money on it. my father is in charge of what happens next because its technically in his name. he wants to get me something newer because i might be moving down south to go to college next year. i hope i can trade it in for an 03 6speed or a tl. if not i may look around. maybe a scion? maybe.. i dont know if he will let me do a tranny swap. he says that it gave us too many problems and that we should just let it go. i hate to see it go because i was smashing on rsxs left and right.

yea like if it's only a tranny then keep that sucker.. trust me i was thinking about selling it and so on right when my trans took a shit. but i pulled through and goter fixed and am happier than ever with the decision. plus when u fix the trans u know it's gonna last for a long long time since u'll be giving her early oil changes ect. so i say keep her. if u don't have any other major problems you must attend to.
