A couple of Questions:

1. Why would u put strobes in?
2. Do u want the cops to pull u over?

But i have no idea why they do not work. sorry.

Can you just buy a set of them and hook up them up to a 12 volt battery. People make all kinds of strobes. If the flash tube has a wire wrapped around the bulb (external trigger), it could be dirty, wet, damp, etc.
This would cause the bulbs to not fire well.
The wiring could be all goofed up, but this isn't rocket science.

Start simple -- take one of the strobes that are acting up and just get some jump clips and hook them up to the battery. If they work ok ON/AT the battery, then its the wiring. If they "act-up", there not weather proof.

Some strobes, like for airplanes, are weather proof, would work in a hurricane, and would last for years.

I wouldn't count on much luck if someone mounted "disco"/inside/indoor strobes in your car.

I'm just guessing, but if they really did work well for 4 days, they probably got weather damages (but I'm not there to look at them).

Do the police actually let you use them when driving?

The biggest question that comes to my mind is why would you want strobes in the first place? Maybe your trying to fool air traffic and divert a 747 onto his hood. Or you like to stop in grocery store parking lots and start a disco. Or people hire you for special efects at haunted houses or clubs on Saturday night? In any case, if it takes strobes to get you attention, you don't need it that bad, and besides your going to end up with a ticket sooner or later.

come on guys, don't rip on him ... i would approve on strobes in one situation only however... you have to be able to switch them on & off ... and you can only turn them off after you've done a monster burn out at the track, and you're driving thru the smokey haze with the strobes on that's awesome

You didn't buy a police strobe kit, did you? You just got the streetglow rod type strobes, right? or another manufacturer... never the less, that's how they work. Once the power supply breaks in, the blink when they want to. I have NOVA police strobe kit in my TL (what the cops use, yes)...that's what you need.

Sounds like the relay is not working properly. The relay causes the lights to flash. That is where I would start my trouble shooting.

I was jsut screwing around, strobes just sound odd to me. I'd like some police strobes, plenty of times I'd like to scare people that cut me off.

You know at first I thought why the hell would you need strobes for but then I thought about all the times I would have loved to scare the shit out of the buttheads that cut people off and drive like idiots. There's never a cop around when you need one!

On a side note:

There is one thing I don't understand about this forum. I don't understand why people aren't more open to people's ideas. I mean, it's their car and they're free to do whatever they want to it. If they want put an F-16 horizontal stabilizer on the trunk or hang dingleberries from the headliner, they are the one's that drive it. Just because we wouldn't consider doing it to our car doesn't mean we have to belittle them. I say more power to them. And if they happen to stumble onto some useful information as they tear their car up to install that 2100 HP Jet engine, I just hope they share it on the forum.

Just my $0.02

You might be on to something. They used to use giant strobes inside the back of B-24s during WWII to illuminate and photograph enemy positions from miles up in the sky. Wouldn't be too hard with a big EG+G strobe tube, to make a anti-personal blinder.

The more people who have fun with their cars, the more info we will get.

Some of this stuff is very funny and lots of fun (hey I'm as guilty as the rest), but some of the attacks get a little close and personal (MHO). Perhaps a line needs to be drawn between making fun and having fun at another's expense, and finally making so much fun of someone, that they snap and go Postal (not much fun at all).

$.02 done

I had strobes on my 3000gt and it took me a while to justify the $200 install. What got me to do it was when entering your car in shows it makes you stand out more. Whenever i would arm or disarm the security system they flashed with the other lights in the car and it looked great...always had people coming up to me asking how I did that. Cops cant ticket you as long as you're not using it on the road. They flashed with the alarm system plenty of times in front of police and they cant do anything.

well i have 2 switches inside my car .. and i can turn them off or on whenever i want.. i also can adjust their speed..etc.. and i only turn them on when we go out to kick it at night and once i park.. i will turn them on... ppl Acutally stare at it =) and BTW i dont turn them on while i m driving , epecially at night.. because u basically cant tell when the HID is on..
my motivation for strobe light is from a vidoeclip on this forum.( a white TL has it)
except i got 2 more than he does =) HEHE
anyawyz... cuz i have 2 10" woofer in my car.. and i think my red power cable isnt thick enough.. i need some 0 gage or something. I connect my fog light and 4 strobe lights power all into my red woofer cable.. so i think that s y it wont work sometimes.. NOT ENOUGH POWER.. i m gonna rewire my whole sound system and all other shit this weekend with 0 gage.. i hope it will solve the problem =)
and BTW i also have to fix my headlight.. I SEE WATER IN THEM =( after i cleared my light. and BTW... WHO Post that white TL with WW bodykit??? i like ur spoiler..( the lip) how much was it? paint job??
