Questions about getting Air Intake AEM

I am thinking about putting in the air intake from AEM real soon. Just wanted to get some info from you guys. How do you all like it, and are there things you dont like about it? How is the noise level, I dont want a boy racer sound. And does it void any warranties? Let me know what you guys think, Thanks

will NOT void warranty

will NOT sound like a riceboy...it sounds normal until u hit 5K, then it sounds like a deep throated race car!!!!!!!

i don't have AEM, but i can confidently tell u just about every CAI available on our car (Injen, Weapon R, AEM, the discontinued Xephyr) is a great mod to have, a relatively inexpensive mod, and gives a moddest boost of HP/torque

i don't have any complaints about my CAI, however people have brought up issues of brackets fastened to the frame of the car breaking off and may cause a hole in the pipe that lets in unfiltered air...so as long as u install the CAI properly, u should b ok

damn scooter ur up early

Yup scooter hits it on the bullseye

Personally I would wait 4 the comptech icebox if u can wait that long, supposedly better gains than the AEM or any other intake out there, and won't hydrolock ur engine in rain

I have to say that It might not void warranty, but if you do it yourself, you may run into problems. Many people have done it and had no problems, but I had mine installed at the dealer and almost had major damage done. There was a loose connection on one of the cylinders and I was running on 5 cylinders which happened when I got the CAI installed. Both me and the mechanic couldn't figure it out and decided to wit on it(thought the ECU needed to adjust). Anyway the local dealer, who didn't do the install, were being prics and said that They can't cover the problem I'm having since they think its from the modification. Even though they were being dicks and were prolly wrong, I couldn't make them do anything. So I had to trek to the original dealer who did the install to take care of this problem. It took a friggin month to clear it up. But Waht I want to say is that any modification opens up room for error and problems, so have the dealer do the install for just that reason. Even then, other dealers will cringe when they see the work done and they will try to blame that mod as the source. Imagine if I did the intake myself and could't fix that random issue about running on 5 cylinders.

Get a new dealer. Park Avenue Acura isn't that far from you.

That actually happened to a friend of mine just recently. He said the people who installed it didn't use that rubber stopper looking thing to mount it. And it rattled until it just came apart.:thumbsdn:

And about the noise, I don't think it's loud enough. I can barely tell it's there until I hit vtec.

Thanks guys, I am getting it installed from a guy that I have been going to for a long time. A place called audio designs out in hicksville long island. Anyway they give me full warranty on the install and he has done them on the CL-S before, so I am not too worried about the install. I did not order it with the bypass value though, not because of the extra 40 bucks - but because I dont think i will ever need it. I can always have him put it in later. It goes in next week, I am sure I will love it. Now its time to look for rims, how wide have you guys gone? I want 18's machine lipped 5 spoke (single or split) and I would like to go a little wider. Let me know if you know any good ones. I like the GT3s from SSR, lets see. Do any of you have GT3's on the CL???

Very soon, but from what i understand it won't have the same growl as the AEM which is awesome.

I have a question about the warrarnty issue. I talked to a guy who said it did void the warranty. I have not called my dealer to ask them if it does for fear that they will automatically say yes and void my warranty. I installed it myself and it works great and no problems. But what if I have tranny problems like so many others and take it in and they say "Sorry but you voided your warranty with the CAI" Am I SOL???? Any help would be appreciated!!! I really like it alot and want to keep it but am not sure about the warranty thing.

Sounds kicks ass, I actually got a compliment on it last night. Guy sad "wow, thats thing sounds awesome for a V6" I told him "it's the lil v6 that wants to be a V8"

I suppose the headers help a little bit, just a deeper tone though.

It's a deep growl! doesn't sound like your trying to whack the weeds away

dude, sneazing on your engine bay can be a reason for a stingy dealer to void your warranty. just make sure whoever does the work will cover any related problems. Don't expect the dealer to fix a bad install by someone else under warranty.
