Question for you guys with TINT in states that dont allow it
For you guys that might have tints on your windows in states that dont allow it (for example, in NJ where i live you cant have it on the front windows only the back) how do you guys pass inspection. I want to get tint for all the windows, i see it all the time around here, not to dark prob like 35% but i dont want to run into a problem in a year when i got to bring the car for inspection. What do you guys do?

Pay someone at a local auto shop to pass you. Either that or rip off the tint before you go for inspection, then have it retinted. Doing the front windows is cheap.

In Oregon only three cities in the state have an inspection requirement. These are for Smog only and nowhere as strict as CA. No safety inspections you should see some of the rolling wrecks on the roads in this state.

Well here in Washington D. C. the tint laws are A backwards like a lot of other things. We go thru Inspection every 2 years this is safety & Emissions. With a brand new car you don't have to go thru untill the car is 2 years old. They check everything Brakes, windows, all lights, shocks, tires ect. Tint is on the the card the law says 50% rear windows 75% driver & passenger. This is for passenger cars only. The laws are so backwards & have not been changed. Now for example minvans & SUVs that come with factory dark tint on rear & back door windows can pass Inspection. They can't have anything on the front door windows unless its 75%. I have had my other cars tinted in the past & had the 50% on the rear window to pass. I also had the sid window tinted at 50% & then pulled it off to pass. With my 2000 TL I put 50% on the rear window & 45% on the side door windows. I had to pull it off last year to pass Inspection for my first time with this car & then I got it re tinted. With this combo on the TL with darker grey seats it works well for looks. I also have the rear sunshade for the ACCORD sedan that I have not put in yet. Some of the guys have the Inspire shade but they are the same just with different mounting hardware. I will get it put in this year. It no problem with cops because its more drug boy cars with paper tags they don't even mess with for that. You can see inside my car but it gives a shade effect.

I used to have a “connection” for getting my inspections done, but a few years ago they took the responsibility of checking tint away from the inspection stations.
They didn’t want them to be responsible for checking the legality of a car.
This is great because my Acura dealership provides FREE lifetime State Inspections.
The BAD side is that you can still get pulled over by any state or local cop and get ticketed.
That’s why I went conservative with only 35% on the side windows.

If you get pulled over in MI for illegal tint, just provide a note stating you have a sensitivity to light and the tint at XX% is needed for your safety...nice way out of a fix it, or worse

Loving my 08 TLS!
Collective, I had my windows tinted for 2 years. This month I was suppose to get my car inspected, but I just received a extended inspection sticker up to 2005 from the DMV. I won't worry either since I know autoshop in Orange, NJ who does inspection and they don't care if you have tinted windows, clear headlights, blue bulbs... etc. Did you get an extended inspection sticker?
