Question regarding California Car Registration

Can anyone confirm whether this is true or not. I live in FL currently and have Limo tint on front two windows and on the rear windows. I am moving to LA in two months and was wondering when I register my car, will they look at my windows and require me to have legal tint on the car before they register my car or will I just pay the registration fee and that is it?

well when i moved out i had 50% on my front windows and they didnt say anything, but i had teh rear darker then the front. Just roll your front windows down. All they really check is the VIN and under the hood. Lots of people out here have illegal tint. My current car is 35% all around. Just make sure you dont pulled over. good luck.

For the record, in California there is no "legal tint" on the front windows. Limo tint will probably get you a fix it ticket and you'll have to have it removed. Some Officers will actually cut the tint which will force you to remove it rather than just pay the fine on the fix it ticket. I run 50% on my front windows on my cars and haven't had a problem. Rolling down the windows is one way to get around the problem. Opening your moon roof also is another way (let light into the interior of the car makes the tint look lighter). Usually if the Officer can see you, they won't hassle you. The biggest problem I've had is at Dusk.

Yeah i leave my moonroof open 24/7 now, and in cali its nice enough too. But i also have a black car and my tint looks lighter but its still illegal, ive never had problem (knock on wood) My friend has the exact same tint on his silver 540 and its looks darker and he doesnt have his moonroof open, hes already gotten one ticket by a cop, he just paid the fine.

Its a risk you take but youll see TONS of people take it.
