Question about Second Gen Legends...

My buddy has a 91 or 92 Legend... it has a bose tape deck in it.

He wants to replace the headunit... will he have to replace all his speakers too?

No, you can use a adaptor by AudioLink to interface an aftermarket HU to the bose amp. I did the opposite the the adaptor works both ways.

Did a quick search and here is the link to the adapter I used. It is the PD4 which I bought from http://www.linkmeup.com/

Do you reccomend any particular head unit?

He has a '91 by the way.

He claims its double-din (well he describes it as "big") heh. I didnt know the 91's had double din but I havent been in a Legend in forever.

I would advise him to replace everything...it's not worth it to stay with the stock speaker if he is going to replace the head unit....it's that whole thing about BOSE using 1 ohm rather than what most car stereos use which is like 2 or 4 ohms.

I was looking at this really cool double din eclipse. It has a double din sized lcd monitor that you can pipe in dvd or a navi system. I decided that rather than spending 3 grand, I would sell it and get a CL. That why I am here.

It’s definitely a “Double-DIN” size.
Here is what I had in my 91 Coupe.

Definately double din headunit size and the bose speakers run a 2 ohms.
He'd be better off replacing all the speakers with aftermarket if he plans on buying an aftermarket headunit.
