question about rear brake caliper pistons on 01 cls

can the piston be pushed back in like the one in the front calipers or do they need to be rotated back in? if they need to be rotated, which tool do i use? i've seen those six-sided piston tools, would they work for our cars?

Our cars don't have the cross pattern like Type-R's and some other cars do. The piston can be simply pushed back in.

Pushed in & you can do it with a C clamp. No special tools needed.

Caliper spreader from Auto Zone is 6.99 and works a lot better than a C clamp.

C-Clamp and old pad over the piston. Takes less than 30-seconds

I always rotated mine using a big screwdriver. I never used a C-clamp..but thats for the front.. even at the dealer thats how I used to do it.

whatever you do, make sure to have some padding on the piston or leave the pad on there as one member mentioned. if you try to push it back in with the wrong tools, you can actually damage the piston and make a dent in it. it would still work afterwards, but it would be a little uneven. i believe the piston is made of aluminum so its somewhat fragile when applying direct force to one area.
