I was dead set on buying an RSX before the CL and the early years 02/03 surely had the problem. Might have been fixed by acura by 06. FYI my 93 sentra has a notchy 1>2 shift. Its not a problem with the V6, but a problem with they syncros used

I actually had this done recently and noticed a remarkable improvement. Here is the thread reporting my findings and also some very informative posts from other members. http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=178800

I used to drive a 2000 Civic with 106hp. I've gotten 4 speeding tickets with that car, mind you I was 17, and drove a "souped-up" Civic with a fartcan.
Since I've had my CLS-6, I've never had a 2nd look from a law enforcement officer. Here in Canada, where cars are still relatively expensive, cars such as CL's, BMW's and Merc's are driven by older folks. And with those kinds of demographics, I don't get hassled as much by the po po's.
As far as my CLS-6 goes, I really didn't enjoy it that much. I don't think it lives up to the hype built around it on this site. Perhaps its huge upside is the problem-free transmission compared to the automatics.
Perhaps maybe also, because I kept mine stock (except for the Icebox). But I just wouldn't fool myself... it's a heavy, luxury FWD car... not something that was designed to be modded and run record times with. Besides... the CLS-6 is like a Supra... turbo it to twice its stock horsepower... and it still only runs 12s.
So with that said, anybody willing to buy my CLS-6 yet? 30K miles, like new condition, asking 26,900 CA$ which I believe is 23,300 US$. The car's American BTW, but I have imported it into Canada.

Mines been pretty trouble-free, but I wouldnt suggest buying it without an extended warranty. My list of warranty repairs:
- Rear Main Seal - Common on J-series engines, not hard to fix, but labor is pricey. There is a TSB out there for it
- Creaking/Rattling moonroof. Has never really been fixed entirely, I just keep the shade closed and turn up the radio.
- Warped rotors. Common to like every car made, but the single piston brakes on the CL-S seem esp weak.
- Inoperable driver seat back warmer. Had to order new warmer.
- Slow/Inoperable pass window. Still in process of getting them to fix.
So, to say just because its a 6 speed that its trouble-free is a little misleading. I still say find a low mileage, adult driven example with service records and you'll be happy. It absolutely NEEDS better tires and some lowering/stiffer springs & struts to be a "fun" car to drive.
And dont let it being a non-navi not let you buy it. Anyone with a map and mapquest can get the same place, and still have some cash in their pocket.
I like how the dash issetup better in the non-navi better, also.
Mines Agean Blue Pearl, and if I did it again I would go black or anthracite. The color is nice, but it is just as hard to maintain as black, but it doesnt look as aggressive.

#2 moonroof had this problem on all models from 01-03 TSB also
#3 brakes suck yes, but some aftermarket replacements will help that. Covers all models 01-03
#4 TSB item again didn't effect many cars
#5 might be luck, since I've heard very few problms with slow windows.
Agree, tires suck & need replacing.
I've had 2 6 speeds, plus an auto. Very few problems.
I speed in this car as much as any car I'm in. I don't get tickets. A good eye, radar detector, & common sense goes a long way.

I think the navi looks more luxury, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Im a real estate agent and you should see me trying to get around with a Hagstrom map on my lap. I gotta pull over every so often just to check where I am. Man I wish my 6 speed came with Navi....ohhh wellllllllllll
