Purchased 2003 6mt with 81k miles :)

I bought this car yesterday, after getting it looked at by a mechanic. It looks like nothing is wrong with the car, other than the 3rd gear grind I mentioned in another post. I will keep driving it this way, until i need to change the clutch, at which point I will do a full tranny rebuild.

I have found that if I double clutch it every time I put it into 3rd gear, it does not grind that bad, in fact almost does not grind at all. The exhaust sounds great, I did not realize the exhaust on these cars sounds this nice from the factory. It looks like there is a ticking sound coming from the engine, I don't think it could be a lifter, but I remember reading about some valve that gets replaced to remove that sound. Any one know?

Lastly, what maintenance do you guys suggest right away? Tranny flush? AEM CAI is already on its way, so no point in replacing the paper filter. Anything else? Should I do one of those motor flush things, that clean the grime out of the engine? Seafoam?

Thanks for everyone's help.

congrats, are you sure the grind doesn't go away with the warmer operating tempratures? tranny fluid from Acura is known to get a bit notchy in the cold. Search on these forums for notchiness, or nochy or something to that spelling.

It does not go away, and its a pronounced grind. I will change the tranny fluid to the new reformulated stuff that honda made, hopefully that will help a bit.

Welcome to the 6spd club !! I probably would have bought it too... Cars with a noticable problem like that can usually be bought cheaply, 'cause you can use the problem as a bargaining chip....

What color combo did you get ?? Navi ?? Non-navi ?? Check out the link in my signature to see how rare your 6spd is...
