PS II Gran Turismo 3!!!
Has anyone gotten Gran Turismo 3 yet? I got it this weekend. Man, this game almost cost me my marrige already! I spent probably 10 hours on it. You can actually race to earn enough to buy the CL Type S. You can then modify it to your liking. Right now I have mine @ 381hp w/ racing brakes, suspension, flywheel, racing trans, everything. You can lower your car, put on new wheels and tires - this game is smokin'. Only thing that bites - you can't put a turbo on. Oh well this game is a must if you have a PSII. The graphics are so good, it's like video. Or real simulation...
Try it, you'll like it

Yup... my first car was the Miata too. I have it at around 352hp now, but I haven't used it in a while....my new baby is my Mercedes CLK55 with around 500hp....

As much as I like the CLS, I can't bear to purchase that in the game. Its just not worth it for that kind of money. I had a Miata, totally modded out and was running low 13s (or was it low 12s?).
Just so you guys don't start flaming, I didn't purchase the BMW either, too much waste of money ($50,000) for a car that won't break the 13 second mark.

I raced my cousin with his Supra (1050hp)this weekend at his house with my Viper and killed him so bad each and every time. Then I raced him with his S4 (approx. 900hp) and suprisely it keeps up in the first 3-4 gears and then I start to fly.

I used a miata too until I got a CL. Now I am deciding if I want to get a WRX for the 4WD challenge and for Rally or get the NSX type R for the Type R Challenge.
I spent 15 hours on it this weekend alone. Damn this game rocks.

It's the yellow one ... I love it. I gotta figure out how to get better handling out of the car and it needs more low-end oomph. As soon as I get the $70k for the Stage 3 tuning I'm on that puppy. New pistons plus port and polish will rock! 400hp N/A miata anyone? Hehehe

My little baby is the Skyline GTR Vspec, yeah there's a Cls in my carage over 400 hp, but that's where it stays. The Skyline runs low 9s (9.232 is my best) and contains 1051 in the pony depoartment. I have eveything for it, but don't change any settings other than the gear ratio depending on the track, Any suggestions with the limted slip, suspension, or tranny setting? I know this thing can handle better than it does now, what are the settings some of you guys are running. Also got about 324K in the bank, what cars (non-turbo) can compare to these stats? Thanks

I've got the suzuki escudo: 1824hp!
with the right settings on the test course I can pop a wheelie with that sucker and reach 500mph+
of course if you pop a wheelie in real life like that this would happen:
http://formenmedia.ign.com/media/new...lyingbenz.mpeg
http://formenmedia.ign.com/media/new...porsche_1.mpeg
I also got a RUF RGT a RR with 1000+ HP. Does low 9 seconds and corners like its on rails. This game is the bomb!

Dude, I opened up the floodgates on this. I started with a stock Skyline too. Modded that baby to like 350hp. I had to at least try the CL-S so I sold the Skyline to try it. I do beat all the comp. in all the races I can get into right now except GT. You guys are right though, it handles like crap! I just like to fantasize about my car hauling ass in the replay mode. I'm sure I'll be back on tonight and try to make some more $$ so I can add to my garage.

To make money, I started with the New Beetle and modded it just enough to win the Beginner Beetle Challenge races for 5K a pop. Then I bought the CL-S, then a Mitsu 3000 GT VR-4, then the most expensive RUF (I modded it but it still wasn't fast enough.) Sold the RUF and bought a Pagani Zonda C-12S. It is a Naturally aspirated V-12 and after mods, this car kicks ass!

colbster,
I suspect either they are using cheat codes or they lack jobs and can play all day. I have spent 20 hours playing and I only have two well modded cars and I am broke.
Or maybe they just drive a hell of alot better then we do.

The Cl looks very good..but is it just me or does the back of it look kinda weird in the game? I also think it's cool that they selected the CL-S for GT3 considering they decreased the amount of cars compared to the old version...

I have about 10 good cars in my garage and can easily make about 300k+ in about 20-30 mins.
The key is getting the licenses and racing the right races.
I started out with the trueno. I saved up a bit and bought a turbo charger. I got my B license. I raced on the turbo sports for 5k each win.
I saved up an bought a Lancer Evolution 6. I saved up for a turbo charger.
I got my A license. I raced the first 4 races in European Championship then saved(Takes about 20 mins). I quit out the 5th race and got a random prize car. I kept reloading and quit out 5th race until I got the Vertigo Race Car.
The Vertigo Race Car sells for 300k, or you can keep it( Really fast and handles like its on rails ). Rinse and repeat the European Championship netting 300k+ in about 30mins. Or you can do this with the German Touring Challenge in which the tracks are a bit easier.

I'm playing with simulator level now and I can't tell the difference between that and the beginner level! I've got a miata modded and just got an S4 this morning that I've got a few mods to.
BTW - that strategy of quitting in the 5th race sounds a bit cheat-ish to me... do you just load, go in and quit, and get a car?

I have played a ton since the day the game came out too, but my strategy is this...i got the rally liscence and then race every rally race, took about 2 hours, and for each event (3 races) you get a rally car worth 75k-88k and about 35k in cash. do this over and over and in no time you will have bookoo bucks!! then when you win the entire rally section, you will get an ESCUDO!! Mod it up, and mine had 1881 horsepower and ran the quarter in an 8.971!!! Then with that car you can basically dominate any test track races and basically all the races you are allowed to enter with it!! it sucks ass for handling, but my approach has been crash and go. It makes some of the endurance races seem like a joke they are sooo easy. Well thats my technique, maybe you should try it. Oh yeah, for the rally races i just used a 1085 3000gt vr4 and smoked the compition!

If you place 1st place in the first 4 out of 5 races, you will have enough points so that the 5th race will not matter, you will still win overall.
The reason why you save after the 4th race is because you can't save after the 5th race.
After quitting out the 5th race and winning, you will get a random prize car(out of 4). If I do not get the car I want I simply reload the game back to the end of the 4th race and play my chances again. I'm just picking the car that I want( out of the random cars) so I dont have to race a bunch of times just to get it.

I have a little Civic Si-R all modded out doing 202mph on the test track. For the money, that has been an awesome car. I bought it as soon as my miata won a couple of races, so it was my second car, but it can handle the Amateur level Turbo races for $15k a pop.
Of course, I've got a CL-S now, as well as an NSX-S Zero. Once you can win the loop tracks on the Amateur level (Turbo and NA), money isn't too hard to get.
I'm going for a mostly-Honda garage...

Bought PS2 & GT3 bundled for $330. Also bought a memory card. I'm using my Madcatz wheel with vibration for the PSX, and it works great (no force feedback, though). It sits right in my lap, no bolts or anything.
I bought a Miata and built it to the max. It's a bit too easy.
Now I'm focusing on the license tests and I'm through I-A 6. I also have the rally license. All the tests are way too easy so far.
I bought a CLS and built it up. Handling is bad, but it sounds OK and it looks great.
I can't wait to have enough cash to but a serious vehicle, though (SKYLINE!!!).
I've had people come over to try the game, and most of them don't have the patience to get a feel for it. They say it's too hard. FOOLS! IMHO, it's the best game ever.
