Problem with intake for 2003 Corolla S
Problem with intake for 2003 Corolla S
I built an intake for my friends's 2003 Corolla S and the check engine light keeps coming on. I reset the ECU, and the mass air flow sensor is snug enough. Yet, the car has been idleing at 1,500 RPM?! What can I do about this? I will try to post pics of it soon. BTW is there a problem with too much air going into the car? We had to snug the intake into the stock airbox because too much air was coming in and the car wouldn't start. Thanks :o I know it looks ghetto
I am 15 afterall.

well for one thing, that tubing you used for the intake isn't meant for that application,
it looks like the tubing you used is used to connect dryers to the vent that goes out the house, i'm not making fun of you, but that's what kinda pipe it looks like you used.
second, is that duct tape that you used to secure the filter onto the pipe with the clamp?
if your going to add a filter, start by using parts that are meant for the car, and if they aren't avialable, go to a shop and see what they can do or what advice they can offer.
i admire you trying to get it to work. but think about the materials that you need first before you proceed with it. saves a lot of time and trouble later.
and in addition i don't know what kind of setup the corolla has being that this is a Acura forum, but check to make sure all the connector's that connected to the stock filter have a proper connection on the new pipe. this is why you need to use an actual metal pipe with the proper fittings.

Yeah....I know it's ghetto. I think next week we are going to try using CVC piping. Yeah...I found breathers to go over the piping that was leading to the stock airbox. The intake is secure, I just used electric tape to make sure that the intake was not leaking. Thanks for the help. I greatly appreciate it.
