CL-S vs. Toyota Matrix?

I was coming back home from the stores and on this two lane road.. there was this funky looking car weaving through the traffic. I was driving at the speed limit which was 45, and somehow this funky looking car manage to cut me off! After this car cut me off I saw it was a Toyota Matrix... (they looked really funky..)

Anyways, I was pretty pissed!!! I hate people cutting me off especially someone who is weaving through the traffic.. I switched lanes and stopped at the traffic light right next to this Blue matrix, and I saw this young person(maybe early 20's) blasting his anemic factory speakers with some techno beat. This kid gave me a nasty look... I was already pissed that he cuts me off and then after he gave me this nasty look.. I was even more pissed. When the lights turn green(I didn't even shift to SS, I was in D5) this kid got the jump on me like he is going to some place in a hurry, but I really didn't think it was even a race, because soon as I stepped on gas, my CL-S darted passed this so called "Matrix" like Michael Johnson racing PeeWee Herman.

Boy I never realize my CL-S could dust someone so badly b/c by the time I got to 55mph I was like several cars length ahead of this "Pee Wee Matrix". By the way, when I passed this rude driver I looked over at him and gave him a smirk ... I bet this kid was pissed... hehe(like I really care..) And after I "schooled" this kid, he was not weaving through out the traffic anymore.. I guess he was "humbled" and learned that in the presence of a CL-S, his matrix can only get the view of my exhaust, I guess some kids just never learn.

I love my CL-S!!!

A manual Matrix v6 is quick. With an intake and exhaust they can beat a CL-S. Celica GTS mods are pretty much adaptable.

You sure? I have read that the Matrix XRS (the "fast one) with 180hp, manual tranny has a 0-60 time in the mid 7 second range. Also, to the best of my knowledge, there is no V6 for the Matrix. All the models are inline 4 cyl engines.

my kid has the XRS and there a 15.5 second car stock
2877 pounds with 180 horsepower.

they are a cool car and do recieve a lot of looks, lots of room and the interior is not bad, good dashboard layout.

if an intake and exhaust puts out 40 horses than the matrix will keep up to a stock 6spd Cls.

put on the supercharger that will be release this year and the matrix will smoke the Cl's.
but that mode Vs stock.

Maybe if the MAtrix had the supercharger they could keep up with a stock auto CL (never mind the 6speed Type S). I'd have to see real proof not a bunch of assumptions before I believe anything. The Matrix is a cute (?) car, not a race car. Deal with it.

I read the supercharger was only coming out for the 130hp model, to bring it up to the power of the 180hp engine. They had to do this because Toyota needed the 180hp engines for the Celica... I didn't hear anything about the SC for the 180hp version

I think maybe Totyota Matrix needed more than the supercharger to keep up with our CL-S?

(6spdream)Matrix with intake and exhaust to keep up with my pimp daddy gold? <----

hehehe

jleelu, I think you are right...I have no idea what potential that engine has tho'. It is the same as the Celica GTS so it might potentially be a nice engine to play with. Personally, I think that it would be a waste of time. By the time you pay for all the mods you could have just bought a faster car!!!

40 extra horses will allow the matrix to run with the cl-s a super charger if made for the xrs -the matrix will own us.

the manaul xrs is a 15.4 second car
2877 pounds with 180 horsepower
add 40 horses and your around 14.7 cl s territory

if the super charger comes out for that model watch out
add headers, intake exhaust and a charger
you'll be running 280horse in a lighter car
13.5 territory a great sleeper

The only problem with that setup is by the time you add up all the $$ you paid for the mods.. you probably could have gotten yourself a CL-S However, it is still a Toyota...

Toyotas are great cars so why it that bad?

Also, Add a supercharger to the CLS6 and the ball is back in our court!

your probably right ,from my kids view is

he's 19 and he makes so much money per month.
the two cars that he wanted were the Cl's and the wrx
here's the problem a 2003 wrx is 40g's canadian without taxes
the 6spd 2003 cl-s is 46g's canadian without taxes.
he has a honda civic that worth 10g's for a trade in.

because of his age no bank would give him the 30g's
now enters the matrix
2003 xrs 6spd full load 25g's without taxes
bank gave him the 15g's no problem.

his goal and he's done it for 4 months now is he's dropping a grand a month on the loan.
car is paid off in 15 months,
now enter headers, and exhaust 3500 canadian
intake 1000 canadian
supercharger 7500 canadian

all atainable since he has his car paid off.
no in a year in ahalf he's got a car that quicker than the cl and was done within his budget.

not everyone can have a cl-s or a bmw or a audi some people have to settle for a dodge ford, honda or toyota,
for him he looks at it that it was a big upgrade from the civic he was driving,
there a car for everybody out there ,everyone has differnt tastes and budgets
its budgets that hamper our dreams.

does it compare in luxury to our cars ,not really
the main thing when the day is over--- is ---are you happy.

Actually Toyotas are great cars, they are not bad... What I am referencing to is the fact that Acura is in a different league as to Toyota, in which Acura should be compared with Lexus. As Toyotas are not considered as luxury cars, where the Acuras are more of luxury cars.

Comparing Matrix(or most of the Toyotas) with CL-S is like comparing Apples with Oranges. Toyotas = not luxury, Lexus = Luxury, Acura = Luxury.
