Problem to install new OEM clutch/pressure plate and flywheel

Hi there, my mechanic is having a problem.. he stopped working on my car when he saw in my service manual that he needs some special tools from acura to replace the new clutch/pressure plate.

It says on my service manual:

NOTICE

YOU MUST USE THE SPECIAL TOOLS REQUIRED TO REMOVE AND INSTALL THE CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE OR YOU WILL IRREVERSIBLY DAMAGE IT.

tools required:

Pressure plate compressor 07AAE-P8EA000
Clutch alignement shaft: 07AAF-P8EA000
Pressure plate compressor adapter: 07AAK-P8EA000
ring gear holder: 07LAB-PV00100 or 07924-PD20003
Attachment, 37 x 40mm 07746-0010200
Driver 07749-0010000

Do we really needs those tools or not?

People have had success installing the pressue plate without the tool by slowly and evenly tightening the pressure plate bolts. Compressing the pressure plate using this method seems to work well without the tool.

Yea i just heard a horror story about someone not using the tool and bending some of the teeth on the flywheel & causing a sensor to get destroyed.

Any Honda or Acura dealer has them. Maybe try to bribe a tech to loan you them for like $100.

taking it off is no problem, putting it on is a bit of a hassle. A trick is once the pressure plate is off, take one of the bolts down to a hardware store and get several just a bit longer. then start the install with the longer bolts till you get the pressure plate started, about halfway down take them out one at a time and exchange them with the stock length ones. go slow and go evenly and torque to spec.

It's getting there, just finishing up some paint items and after Christmas will start putting it together. There's a thread on the paint job in case you missed it. BTW, haven't seen you around in a while, how's your child and how old is she now? Scalbert popped back in for a few hits not long ago, everyone was excited.

Kid is doing well - he is going to be 2 in Jan! I just saw your thread in the race-car. When I asked 'how is the car doing'... I just meant with the plain old turbo kit :-)

That's what I did when I installed my clutch/pp/etc. Works like a charm if you have the patience.

I did each bolt a 1/4 turn at a time. Took forever, and I redid it 3 times to reassure myself I didn't mess up.

I sold the kit a few months ago. It served me well and was a lot of fun. Not a day went by that I didn't floor it as the car was very fast. Glad to see your still lurking around. Any projects on the horizon, used Acura's are pretty inexpensive at the moment if your looking for another car to mod.
