Problem??? How does your sportshift behave during WOT???

If I get on the gas, get into second and if I'm pushing the car hard and *bump* the shifter into 3rd, it won't go. It seems that I kind of have to hold the shifter up there to get it to go into 3rd. Same with 3rd into 4th. Sometimes I find myself looking at the tach. and seeing myself suck at >6000 RPMs because the shift didn't take.

Is this something I should take up with the dealer, or is this a characteristic of the slushbox? If I'm driving normally, and I come out of 2nd into 3rd at 30mph, I don't have any problems.

Thanks!

Do a search. I'm not quite sure of the answer but I know this was covered in detail earlier. I'm thinking it's normal.

Mine shifts fine the first time. But I only have about 5000 miles on it, I guess it hasn't had much of a chance to break yet. Based on all these tranny horror stories, I'm sure I'll be in the same boat soon enough. :'(

Happens to me quite often.. I think it's normal and the simple solution is to just hold your shifts for a second... then it's fine.

I've never had that happen. The only thing I notice, and I'm sure it's just a function of what you all call the "slush box" is the slowness of it. Let's face it. It's an automatic transmission. It just won't act as quickly as a manual tranny - no way no how!

Never had a problem and I just crossed 20,000 miles. In the Audi's tiptronic, you just nudged it, but in the CL, it's more like a shove to get it to shift gears....but I'm used to it now.

My SS works as advertised. I tap the shifter, and in just below a second it shifts up/down. I just give it a quick slap once, just like pushing a button. I also don't have problems going from 5 to 2 while doing 60 on the highway. I just tap it back quickly several times, push the gas, and it drops directly into 2 and takes off.

When pushing it, I upshift when the rpm's are at 7000, and it shifts around 7300 just before the fuel cutoff.

I have no problems with with shifting in SS mode. Just like people are saying just get off the gas for a second then shift. I find it especially handy when cruising in SS in 3rd at about 45 then droping it to 2nd...I've burned many ricers that way. SS is a must for street racing..leaving it in D5 will get you beat.

yup...i run into this problem quite often.

The first time was when I was on the dyno and I was trying to time the shift from 2nd-3rd...but of course I hit the rev-limiter because of the delayed shift....waaa-waaa-waaa-waaa

everyone in the garage looked at me like I didn't know how to shift an automatic.

I 2nd Fast Daddy!

I just tap and it goes....
You have to anticipate the delay, in SS I tap the shifter at about 6700 just before redline and it shifts right before cutoff. My car has been doing this from day one. Downshifts are just as easy just anticipate the delay, lean your car and use it to your advantage. If you have no patients or if you tend to drive looking only 50 feet in front of you use the gate shift method, just be carefull not to miss a gate: ie 1st to 3rd or 3rd to neutral.

I barely have to nudge it, and I mean I can just move it about 1/8th of an inch until you feel pressure and it shifts gears...

however I'm all premium, not s...
