PROBLEM after spring installation!

My problem is that my back seat does not line up against the back dash by the speakers, their is a gap. There is also a gap under the armrest when you put it up that I dont remember having before the instalation. The guy who installed them called an Acura dealership and they told him that it is just going to take people sitting in it and time. I think that is B.S.
can anyone help me ?

You are correct. That is BS. How many people sat in it on the assembly line ???????????

I suggest stopping payment on check or CC as a last resort if they continue the BS

This is a classic example of bovine excrement. Here is the deal on the seat,it was not reinstalled properly. There are two hooks at the upper edge of the seat back that must engage corresponding holes in the metal structure of the rear deck,if this is not done correctly you will have a gap.To correct this yourself you will need a 10 MM socket a six inch extension and ratchet.Begin by pulling out the seat bottoms, these are held in place by snap pins located at the front of the cushions. They are a pain the %ss to get out at times but they will come out by pulling sharply on the front of the seat cushions in an upward motion.Next you will need to remove the rear center console which is held in by four 10 MM bolts.Next you will need to remove the two 10 MM bolts that attach the seat back to the floor of the car they are located near the rear seat belt anchors.Once this is done you will now have to manhandle the seatback into the correct position as to allow the pins to fall into the holes in the rear deck. After this is done reassemble the car in reverse order of disassembly.
Or go back and tell the installer what to do after all you paid good money so why should you bust your knuckles to correct a mistake.Jens

Mr Jens,

I was curious how often you end up tearing the foam when you remove the rear seat...or how often you end up pulling that plastic insert out of the body. I wish there were a better way to remove the seats...I feel like I'm doing something wrong everytime I pull mine out.

Yeah. He's right. the seat wasn't re-installed properly. They didn't hook the back of the seats up so there's that gap.

Taking that rear seat out of a CL is a definite hump.I have done it so many times I have figured out just the right amount of force needed but that comes with the territory of working an Acuras all day. Those darn little plastic sleeves do suck but can from what i have seen be reused without problems. As far as seat foam goes i have not ripped any yet but remember I do this for a living so my experience may be bit different than yours.Jens

If you want a "visual" for what Jens mentioned, here's a link to a poor scan of the back seat install page from the Helm manual: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewP...p=47184898&f=0

That's a biggest BS. I took mine out several times now and it goes back nicely. I hope the installer at the shop knows better about springs, nuts and bolts

Helm sells the factory service manuals for Acura. The main one for the CL runs about $65 (worth every penny) and can be purchased from most Acura dealers or from here: http://www.helminc.com

Go to the DIY section then to the Acura Service Manuals section to search for it. If you do any maintenance or modifications to your car yourself, the service manual makes life *much* easier.

maybe because they have to take your rear seats off in order to install the springs.and they do not do a good job of putting the seats back the way they were
