Pricing: NAV Conversion, DVD and Rear Cam

Been meaning to start my NAV conversion(DVD)/rear cam project for a while but this weekend I started going to local car shops to price parts. One guy says he will do the NAV conversion, add a DVD/MP3 player, and a rear cam. I will have a three way toggle switch for NAV/DVD/Cam. and regardless of what it is on, when I shift into reverse, it will switch to Cam and back when I go to drive. Price: $700 You guys think it is worth it? The RGB converter seems to be about $150, DVD player $300, camera $100. So roughly $550 in parts and I guess $150 in labor. Doesn't seem too bad and I don't risk screwing up anything. Thoughts/Suggestions?

That doesn't sound like a bad deal at all...

But do find out what RGB converter he is planning on using... we all would like to know!

Ok I will do it and let you guys know how it goes. I did ask him about which RGB converter he planned on using and all he would tell me was that it was made by Pioneer and he had six in stock. I will get more details when I go by there next. Thanks for the advice.

Better check again on the Pioneer part in stock...is that what the computer says or does he have one physically in hand?

Anyway, I think that deal might be ok but the colour camera really is only about $50 and the portable DVD player is $99 at Target.

He says he can do the RGB converter and install for $200. I am thinking if he simply puts in the RGB converter I can do the DVD and cam addon myself but I don't know if it would be much cheaper. sidemarker, let me talk to him and make sure he knows exactly what is involved and confirm the price then I will negotiate for both of us doing it and let you know.

Ok got some bad news and some good news...the RGB converter he planned on using will not work. He says he has to use the AVC-RGB1 (big surprise right!). Unfortunately this is $300 for the part itself....so total would be about $400 for the conversion (which does include a 4pdt and relay and all wiring installed). He has 4 AVC-RGB1s in stock I will post them for $300 + shipping if anyone wants them.

Look on ebay for miniature cam...the only two things you should care about is 12v and rca/composite out...
