Price for Comptech springs & labor??

i want to get comptech springs for my cl-s, and people tell me that i should have it done at the dealer since that way my car will still be under warranty. however, when i went to the dealer, he quoted me something like $700!!!! $300 for the parts and $400 for labor. is this normal????

hell no, thats a rip off....buy them online for 250-275 and go to an independent shop and pay about 200 for labor....and make sure to tell them to put the rubber isolators from the stock front springs on the comptech springs...you will need them if you want to avoid noise....i got my springs brand new for 250 shipped on ebay and had a good freind of mine who happens to be an ASE certified mechanic put them on for me for 100 bucks....all in all, best 350 i could have possibly spend on the car....unless you have a connection like i did for the labor expect to pay at least 150 for 200 for labor but NOT 400!!! thats insane!!!!

oh and by the way, no matter where you put them on, springs CAN NOT void warrenty....they CAN refuse to fix blown shocks or something like that but only if they can PROVE the springs caused it...if your tranny goes or something, the SPRINGS cant cause it so dont worry about the warrenty

I ordered my Comptech springs from Park Ave. Acura and paid $300 to my door, and they got here in 2 days. My local dealer charges $208 for the install. I was kinda shocked that they didnt want more.

You know if you have the dealer install your springs, it's almost like having any other shop install your springs. They warranty their install and if you bought the part there, you may get a part warranty from them also and Comptech. But as far as if something goes wrong like a blown shock, it will still come down to what caused it. If it's due to the part causing it, then they may not warranty that, but if it was the install that caused it, then they of course will have to fix that. That is just like any other store, if the install is bad (hopefully) they will have to fix it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that was the impression I was given by the parts manager when I was questioning him about Comptech stuff and warranty issues. Maybe someone can get an official stance by Acura on Comptech upgrades whether it be done by Acura or an independent shop.

P.S. My dealer quoted me $690 for an install of CT springs and AEM CAI. Here's the kicker, I was already providing the parts so the entire $690 is labor. So if they were charging me $50 and hour, that is 13 hours of labor right there according to them. What a freaking rip off!

Attention all Norcalers....
$100 spring/strut install
$40 sways
$40 alignment
all other pricing is variable...but probably no more than a $100, except for headers which are like $140 or so...

I think Steven's Creek Acura charges $80 an hour, so for an estimated 6 hour job (cig break + lunch break + chilling out break included), that would run $480. Where do they get off quoting $690?? For a 6 hour job, that's $110+ an hour!

Hehehe I love these threads, even though it's sad some of you paid out the butt for installation.

I got my CT springs from Beltfed for less than stock price, but assume $300 is stock price.
Labor was $140 for springs and swaybars installation.
CT Swaybars cost $300.

So for $740 I got springs and sways and installation. If you got charged $700 just for springs and installation, I guess that means my swaybars were free? j/k

Hey Moo,

I am ready to have my springs and sways install. Email me to set up the date and time with your buddy. If this Saturday is not available, let me know. Any day next week will work for me.

Thanks,

Sigrude

Your estimating that Steven's Creek takes 6 hours to install it. I believe you forgot to account in the time it takes them to read the Helm manual on where the springs and CAI goes and figure out who gets to do it.
