Possibly Blown Piston Rings/Motor: Acuracare Questions
My car is at the Dealership as of right now and the service tech called me stating that they needed my approval to start a tear down of the engine to determine what is going wrong with my engine. They stated that I could be charged for 6 hours of labor if the AcuraCare Rep states that the problems exist due to the supercharger and would not cover the repair nor the labor associated with the tear down of the engine.
Has anyone had any similar experience.
My Cars symptoms right now are:
MisFires on all cylinders,
Car feels like its running on 3 cylinders,
White smoke emitting out when the oil cap is removed and also coming out if the dipstick is removed.
Oil Light coming Flashing On
My personal mechanic (Not from Acura, a Friend of the car club) says the white smoke is oil burning in the cylinders due to blown/worn out piston rings most likely caused from boost.
Should I roll the dice and the AcuraCare rep may cover it under warranty or should I not take the chance of losing 600 bucks and use it towards a 3.5L block with CLS heads.
Anyone have a similar experience please chime in. I was running the CLS HBP.

White smoke is usualy coolant burning and not oil, oil has a blue color to it when it burns.
Although this test is not all that great did they run a compression test, if it comes up low when not under load then yeah you got problems.
If you can temporarily solve your compression problem with some thick oil after running the test then yeah its probably your rings, otherwise you might just have blown a head gasket or two.
You can get one of those pressure testers for the radiator that pressurizes the whole system so you can see where the coolant is coming from.
Did you blow any of your plugs? Any traces of oil in the IM and supercharger?
Now would be a good time to do a 3.5, I did my 3.2 when my 3. went out

You might have been able to bring it in without the supercharger and tried it under warranty but since that was not the case. I think you're going to have to let them fix it if you see white smokes and the car feels weird. If it's the engine, they will definitely try to blame it on the sc.

The CEL would stay lit and flash during cruising when the idling problems started occuring... then over a short drive the car felt like it was running on 3 cylinders. The CEL never went off.
The Smoking was discovered by my personal mechanic when he was attempting to diagnose the problem and stated that is common when the Piston rings deteriorate.

yeah Jay might as well go the 3.5 route cause what they'll charge you in repairs and a new engine you can have the 3.5 completely swapped but make sure you get it tuned as soon as its done and run low boost for a while.

Blue smoke out the tail pipe is common when you lose the rings, white smoke out the breather is coolant in the oil; usually a blown head gasket or perhaps a cracked head. A leak down test will tell the tale.
