I don't mean to rain on your parade but those kinds of filters are actually a bad idea for a number of reasons.
1. The bowl is made of polycarbonate, which can be attacked by some oils and of course, unburned fuel. This is a poor choice of materials for that reason alone, but also note that the max operating temperature of this filter is about 125F.
2. Most of these filters are designed for very high flow rates, meaning their elements are not nearly dense enough to trap oil aerosols. Their primary purpose is to trap water. Most people who have oiled CH compressors actually need the oil to lubricate their impact wrenches. It's the water they must try to stop from entering the tool. We need to trap the oil, so installing just a HD particulate filter won't do the trick. A coalescing filter that is sized properly will do this very well.
If you search enough I've actually found pictures of those filters that people had on their cars. The bowl began to deteriorate and caused a nice milky sludge. There is a reason that catch cans tend to be big and metal, the larger surface area is needed to allow water separation so that it can pull the oil.

I removed the filter, it is only accumulating the oil. (none yet in the 25 miles I have driven since it's install)
There was no filtration previously, it was being dumped into the intake.
If it gets ugly I'll replace it, it is certainly better than the Lipton bottle, no?

What kind of material is inside the filter? Usually it's a stone or steel mesh. The thing I worry about is the the deterioration and stuff getting pushed into your intake. :\
It may collect some oil, but I would bet there is still a ton of oil getting into your intake.

The hoses seem to both go behind the engine, is all I am saying. I did not say they WERE NOT, I said they did not seem to be going to the intake.
They need to vent, they do not HAVE to vent through the intake do they?
I am going to get something, like the Lipton bottle that is open at the top and accepts both hoses, for now the Lipton bottle is back with the top off.

Yea, Ive been looking at catch cans all morning. I like the look of the Greddy and Cusco can, but Im not dropping the coin on those. Ive decided not to go with that filter either since the warning on it says no synthetic oils, but its not specific as to whether or not the warning is for the filter or the bowl itself.

I'm really not trying to give anyone a hard time and apologize if I come off in that way. I'm just trying to prevent people from doing damage. There are pictures in the thread I posted showing the return to the intake manifold. Does it HAVE to go back there? No. But venting to atmosphere is not usually accepted nor does it provide any benefit to a naturally aspirated motors.

Good news: I weighed the manifold.
Yes, thats 9lbs even.
Bad news: Because of work, I was unable to dyno the car, and because of that I still havent installed the manifold.
The shop I was going to is now in the process of moving, so I wouldnt be able to get in for some runs until late July
Im going to find another shop and hopefully get in there next saturday morning. I may ask some guys in the Chesapeake area if they know a place, as Im working out there all this week. I could go after work or during lunch if the shop is relatively close.
I was bidding on a nice used Cusco catch can on eGay, and someone outbid with 3 second left. It was a $100 can, and it sold for $26
Ive got way to many projects on my plate right now. Ive got to focus on one at a time. The manifold is #1 on my list. Then my other projects, which I will be posting

I got some good news. I am getting the car dyno'd tomorrow at 5pm, then again next monday at 5pm.
E30, did you run into any problems with the install? How long did it take you for the full swap? I have plenty of vacuum line, was there anything else you had to get?
Id like to do the work wednesday night and so it gives me some time to find out if I have any issues with it.

The r&r is pretty easy. The only issues I had were I had to loosen the Comptech strut bar to get the old off/new on & more importantly remove the screw holding the butterfly actuator on the IM BEFORE you remove it.
Damn thing fell in the intake runner. I had a scare getting it out with my long magnetized Snap On screwdriver.

One more question E30, does your adapter plate have the same bore as the intake manifold? I grabbed the calipers and measured the intake manifold bore to 75.xxmm. The bore on the adapter is larger.
Sean also sent me the wrong bolts, so Ive got to cut two of them down to size.

As an aside, I drove 800 miles today to & from Vegas the car runs much better in all rev ranges and is a joy to drive.

I mean the actual adapter, its like that was bored out to 80mm, but the intake mani itself is 75mm. I havent measured my throttle body yet.
I cant wait for the dyno tomorrow, and if I can get home tomorrow early enough Ill tear into it. I tried to get in today but they were booked.

It shouldnt matter. I cant wait for the dyno!!!! 7 hours and counting 
Since I wont be getting home til around 8 tonight, Im not going to install it. But tomorrow I should be home around 6pm or so, so that gives me plenty of time to install it and take plenty of pics for you noobs lol.

Sorry, I thought you meant the gasket. The adapter may be smaller, not sure. The TB gasket absolutely was.
As an aside mileage is down one MPG, from 21/30 to 20/29 it is well worth the performance boost.
I used nuts to take up the space of the long bolts. Sean sent me smaller ones for the left side of the TB.

Well I mean the adapter is larger than the manifold. The manifold is 75mm. I hope that turbulence doesnt rob potential power gains. I may smooth it out.
Im just going to cut the bolts he sent. Its 3 minutes with the dremel, so its not worth the postage.
