Is it possible i don't have a clear coat?
Well i was washing my car today and after drying my front passenger side quarter panel when i feel it with my hands, it feels very rough. Not just rough, but theres that sound when you feel something that's just painted as to something that's painted with a clear coat. You can hear that "scruff scruff" sound when you run your fingers over it. It just doesn't feel or look as if there's a clear coat on it. But my other parts are fine. I even tried waxing it after i finished washing it - waxed it with Mothers Carunba wax (the red tin) and it was a little bit smoother, but definately still feels rough. The car is 2 months old... how do you tell? Cuz i don't think there is one.
Are you sure it's not overspray or some kind of a contaminant?
I guess it's possible you don't have a clearcoat, but this would be the first I've heard of anything like this with the CL production.

What do you mean by overspray? I mean, the WHOLE panel feels that way. But only that panel, the rest of the car feels squeeky clean after a wash w/ no wax. But this part after a wash just feels rough.
Just take it to the dealer on your way home one day and ask. They'd be able to tell you.
It should be pretty evident and clear (no pun intended) if you're missing the clear coat.

Well i thought about it, but in all my years of owning a car, even after washing the car after 3-4 weeks of rain and dirt and crap, it's not smooth like wax, it's clean, but squeeky clean to a touch like a clean dish out of a dish washer, but this just feels like touching paint.. the closest comparison i can explain it to is like touching paper. Put a piece of paper on your car and feel it.. that's how it is after a good old fashioned car wash.

Clear coats just don't "go away"...
I'd raise a big stink with Acura if you did infact not have a clearcoat on the door and the dealer refused to help you out.
Ok i'll stop by the dealer today.. i'll update you guys. The dealer is 2 blocks from where i work
But it's so frustrating.. new car and so many things. The dealer already gave me a dent the size of a quarter when they installed my spoiler (they paid the bodyshop to fix).. a few scratches from retards not knowing how to walk properly and now this.. arg..

welcome to the world of crappy Acura paint .. one of the worst car paint jobs I've ever seen. But I guess it fits in well with the crappy tranny .. crappy brakes .. crappy engine management .. crappy interior and crappy service
Well, If you did not have a clear coat on the panel the paint would look dull and would not shine at all. It does not matter how much wax you put on it.
Clear coat gives depth and gloss to the color. Also, it could be that when you left your car for service, it was fixed at the dealer after a small incident and they forgot to buff the repair panel.

If you didn't have clear coat whatever you are using to wax with would turn the same color as the car. When they ship a new car it gets coated with a protective covering. You might have some of that on there but you could probably see it. I would just use a clay bar on it and see what happens. I buffed my car out the day after I got it. Made it a lot smoother.
