Possible back up camera integrated w/ navi

http://www.collegehillshonda.com/ins...rearcamera.pdf

Looks like the new honda pilot will have a back up camera that can hook up w/ the navi. may be we can do the same and have the camera mounted on the rear deck or something

Kensteele already did this i believe. But it would be nice to do with with OEM parts. And I don't know if he put a video switch in to change to the rear view automatically when you put the car in reverse. Be easy to do though.

Since I have a spoiler, the rear brake light on the rear self is unused. I took about that bulb and cut a circular hole in the lens and inserted a small camera.

The camera has "video-in" into the infamous Pioneer RGB-1 and the rest is history. Shows inverted rear video thru the Navi, the visor display, and the rearseat monitor for backseat passengers. No hookup to reverse switch; camera is always on. I have a switch that will swap Navi display back and forth from rear camera and/or DVD to regular Navi display.

It is nothing more than a novelty and has little functionality other than to look from police car and airplanes trying to pace me or watching the lamp posts and street lights fly by on the Navi in the opposite direction as I speed down the freeway at night.

Make it a "backseat cam" for your pimp ride and stream the video to a pay site on the 'net?

The new Q45 has a cam built in right above the license plate. You know them little old short ladies can never see shit behind 'em.

I saw the purpose of this the other day at Circuit City. I was backing out of my parking spot, and I started my backup process well before this lady in a QX4. But she just kept on backing and backing and backing...until finally I had to slam my car into drive, and floor it, and of course my tranny hadn't finished shifting. So instead of accelerating out of her way, I jerked out of her way. She missed my by a couple of inches...I saw nothing but SUV through my back window.

The Japan version of the TL has this as an option. It is mounted next to the rear liscense plate.

You can get those cameras at www.X-10.com. They have some other cool stuff there also.

What about mounting a night vision camera on the front similar to what they have on the Cadillac but this would have to display on the navi rather than on the windshield. Just a though.
