possible? 01 tl-p with 6sp trans

hi I have a friend with a 01 tl-p and his trans is going out, the trans drives like shit, and he has 110,000 miles and the dealer wont cover his tranny, so since he has to pay for a new tranny, he wanted to know if he could convert it to a 6speed with a cl-s 6sp tranny. would this be a difficult converison and would it be possible. has anyone done this or know who would be able to do this in cali. any info would be great

thanks

well, ur looking at the transmission itself, P -> S, so new throttle body, not to mention ECU, gaugeface, intake and catback exhaust. though i suggest u also go aftermarket.

Would it work? I would say yes, from what I known, though there's probably a lot of other things to consider.

Would the dealer be willing to do it? I would say NO. and even if they did, your friend wouldn't like the price tag. What do you think Jens?

Tell your friend Good Luck. CL/TL-P's don't really have tranny problems tho.. u sure its a busted transmission???

CL/TL-P's do indeed share the same tranny issues as you prestigious Type-S folks. Mine's been replaced, along with my friend Anthony in his CL-P.

Press the dealer on covering this problem--goodwill fix--sometimes they agree to cover parts and you pay the labor --- try another dealer---if that doesn't work contact customer service and complain--if all fail, threaten them with legal action---You're only 10,000 miles over the tranny warranty. Acura may listen
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worth a shot of course just because it's not a cheep one, but at 10k over its a toss up wether they will listen or not. 10k is a good bit. If it was like 1-3k i could see but 10k seems like they should say SOL.

yes, but "just a tranny" is quite a bit more complicated than you might immagine, so the short answer is, unless ur friend has money to burn... no its really not an option.

instead of the conversion, it would probably be like a few grand more to trade to a CL6. or a lill more to a 04TL.... to put in a 6 speed into a TLP wud cost a fortune. you are looking at a new tranny, middle console, pedal setup, gauge cluster, and god knows how much labor... it would be hard to find a place that was even willing to take on this job too.
