Pointers on removing shift knob / shift boot

I want to replace the shift knob and shift boot on my CL-S six speed. I need some pointers on removing the knob...does it simply just screw off? And do I need to remove the center console to remove the shift boot and surrounding trim piece?
Or is there an easier way to pry off the shift boot without dismantaling the center console? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I know how to remove the shift knob, not the boot. Squeeze the top of the shiftboot until it allows you to pull it down. You may have to try a few different angles before getting it right. It should come down very easily. Then simply unscrew your shift knob. It may require a lot of force, but that's normal. Once you put the shift knob back on, just slide the shift boot back up and it will clip into place! Hope this helps!

Step 1 - Carefully pop up the silver trim piece at the base of the boot with a screwdriver, it pops up easily, I think it has 4 easy release clips. The boot is stapled to that silver trim base.

Step 2 -Then unscrew the knob since it is attached to the boot as all one piece. It all moves as one piece, the boot, the base, and the knob.

I switched to the TSX knob, is like the S2000 knob but has a red shift pattern. It's a lot shorter and heavier than the stock lightweight plastic knob.

That's all correct, except on mine I only had to push the silver shift boot holder forward to take it out.
