pioneer avic-n1

Im posting it here so it will actually get some views. I just recieved this email.

Because you indicated interest in Mobile Navigation and Audio Visual products, I want to give you a sneak peak at our new in-dash all-in-one navigation/entertainment product (AVIC-N1) that will ship this spring. Some journalists have described it as redefining the category, because for the first time, you can obtain route guidance information, listen to AM/FM/XM satellite radio, and play DVD movies for rear passengers, at the same time. The AVIC-N1 also includes a vehicle dynamics monitor that allows you to accurately assess your car's performance in terms of acceleration, lateral G-force, angular velocity and other measurements.

Last week we launched a site www.avic-n1.com dedicated to this product. I invite you to take a look and then tell us what you think by clicking on this link.

This thing is pretty pimp. Wonder how much it will cost? It has everything. You can have the navigation and radio running up front, while the rear seat passsengers watch a dvd with their own seperate controls. All 3 at once. It also comes with a camera to see behind you, and 8 performance settings. You can set it up to see digital guages on the screen. You can also put your mp3 songs in folder structure and organize them how you like.

I got a chance to check it out down at my installer's shop yesterday. This was their demo model. One of only 3 in Canada...the other two still at Pioneer HQ.

It's even better in real life. The website pics etc do not do it justice.

I wish I could get one of those, there are really nice, porbably one of the nicest in dash cd/mp3 ect screen available. My 6500 is the first I have seen that can detach its face, my old alpine didnt have that option. ANd the clairty for its touchscreen is amazing.

thats a pretty good idea. I think it would look good with the black interior, and i've never liked those on the outside of the car or on the dash.

Yes it is a single DIN and can work with the METRA kit. Many members run these decks, and I think they are great.

Will the AVIC-n1 fit in the 01 CL-S? If so, how much will it cost for installation do you think? What about the 6 disk cd changer? Do we have to take that out? What are the pros and cons of putting this in your car?

Yes it will fit fine in your cl. It is a 1 din unit. You will either need to get the metra dash kit(which is 14.99 at tweeter), or get a custom one made.(would recommend streeteffect). Installation of just the unit and dash kit should be like 50-60 bucks. You will need to remove the cd changer, but could put an aftermarket one either in the glovebox, under the seat, or maybe even the center console. There are many pros as in better audio, a screen, performance measurements, custom setup, etc. The negatives arent many, but the main one is that adding a dash kit may add some rattles to your car. Mine still rattles and ive had 2 metra kits installed by 2 different places. I also lost my sound controls on the steering wheel. Not sure, but it could also affect the navi if you have it. Hope this helps.
