Pics of 2 Flooded M5s in Houston

Some pics of my dad's Blue M5 and his friend's silver M5 taken by the storm in Houston. Flooded a block off of Westhimer in River Oaks. Sorry about the quality, cheap disposable and shitty scan job.

The water eventully got higher than this. But it rose this high within 2hrs.

That sucks.....

I wonder if the insurance company will consider them totaled? I know that cars that have been totally submerged are almost ALWAYS considered totaled by insurance companies. With the amount of electronics on moders cars, a flooded car is nothing but a nightmare to its owner.

what I would of done is bought those racks that people use for oil changes, and put the car on those, if I ever was in a flood situation. Good Idea?

Trouble with BMW's is you cannot drive them in anything over 4" of water. They suck water into the air intake which is located very low (factory style CAI), out of the engine compartment. 540's are like that and I imagine the M-5's are the same. By the time they knew there would be trouble, it was too late to drive. Read of 3 540's that suffered that fate in San Antonio and BMW billed them for $13,548 each--no warranty coverage.

Mother Nature needs a good bitch slap.
I wonder if your insurance comany is goint to fight.
Why couldn't you evacuate? The water level increased that much in two hours, why not get to higher ground? I know around here it takes about ten minutes to get to a nice hill, or start driving and eventually you get out of range.

We had four cars flooded at my house in '97. We were in an area that doesn't normally flood, and by the time the water was rising onto our street, we were pretty much trapped on a little island. It can happen. Luckily, our insurance company covered all the cars. The house was another story. :P

ouch-those cars are goners, no such thing as salvaging the car when the water gets under the dash. i saw a really nice blue bimmer convertible and a late-model benz both DOA on my way home saturday morning.
...it's a sad, sad world.

Do you have to get flood insurance for that to be covered? Our basement was flooded twice and out insurance company just told us to buzz off.
What would cover the cars?
Ilooke at those pics I almost cry... Here I am with no flood insurance.
