I am so pissed at Honda/Acura, I can't stand it. You pay a $hit load of money for a car and it has intermittent problem.
The radio 3 different times will stop playing. No radio/tape/cd. The amp is working because the Navi still talks.
The navi has 3 intermittent problems. They have each happened maybe 4 times in the last year.
Sometimes it won't boot up - dark screen
Sometimes it gets read errors on boot-up
A couple of times one of the gyros acts up and the car drifts off the road. Hops back on the road when the GPS updates.
I talked to the western district manager today (took calling twice to the client service center to get a call-back). He started out saying if the dealership did not witness any of the above problems they would not replace the components. I explained they only lasted until I shut the engine off and restarted. I offered to keep records on when the systems messed up.
He then switched excuses saying I was dealing with cutting edge electronics and all the navi issues happen to every system out there. I told him if that were the case then they were selling crap.

Even my dad's $55k car has Navi problems. The rep is right about one thing, though. These are complicated electronics and we can't expect it to work 100% of the times. I've come to accept that.
Even BMW's navigation system malfunctions. It happens to everyone. I guess you just have to learn to live with it. I mean, what else can you do? And it's not like the problems happen on a daily basis.

With your car (arrow) when it starts to drifts away...click cancel if that wont work click of to A/C and back to MAP... that should put it back in right stop. Mine sometimes drifts away also. No biggie.

I constantly get read errors after a hour of driving or so using the NAV.
Fix it be resetting the car, and then it might or might not happen, whenever it happens i am never near the acura dealer or they are already closed

dude calm down...EVERY VEHICLE ON THE PLANET IS NOT PROBLEM FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!I work at an Acura dealer that is part of a Benz/BMW/Lexus/Rolls/Bently/Acura combo and every single time I go over to the Benz/BMW section all i see is repair orders for 02's and 03' S500's or 530's...ALL OF THEM w/ problems like sunroof won't close or all windows don't work (very common on BMW) and even check out oil leak. Trust me...be happy w/ what u have. Plus not to mention one of my saleladies has a 02 C class benz and is on her forth...yes FORTH trans in like a year and a half!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Just relax and make an appointment at a dealer and if they give u shit then find another dealer!!!
I've never had any problems with my 03 CL-S. I'm at 32k miles, almost 2 years old.
Well that's not true, one time a CD got stuck, but that was my fault for putting a label on a CD-R.
Oh and warped rotors at 20k which got replaced along with pads all around under warranty. No biggie.

For your opinion on all cars having problems, but I disagree. If they can replace the radio and the nav. unit and fix my problems, then they should. The car is under warranty and the items are not working correctly. Other people are not having these all problems. They should works to keep their customers happy instead of sticking them with crap.
your getting angry about this which you should because u pay so much for the car....but the thing decodes a digital signal from outer space to tell you your EXACT LOCATION ON THE PLANET!! If it malfunctions some times, yea it sucks, but be glad you have it in the first place.

Read my post again. It was the fricking dealer its the fricking company. Acura (Honda) in Torrance, CA. I talked to the distric manager. What a prick.
If you bought a TV for $400 and it did not work sometime and the store/factory said it always worked for them...Tell me you would not be pissed. I am talking a 2003, so I paid more than your $15,000 for the car. It should work. How can you argue that????

I'm not arguing that it shouldn't work dude...just stating that all cars have problems no matter what. And I've told every member here thats had problems w/ shit like this to FIND ANOTHER DEALER....simple as that. And I said $15-$30K

I have an 01 CLS and I don't have any problems with my electronics. His system won't abruptly turn off if it can't get the signal from space. That's an electronic problem that the dealer should fix for free.
My suggestion, go to Tustin Acura. They treated me well whenever I had questions or concerns. Also, don't listen to people that tell you that electronic problems are "normal". They are normal on P.O.S. American cars along with any/all engine problems.

im a newbie....great insult. i don't spend my whole life online becoming "smooth as gold" or whatever. The fact of the matter is that in my whole life my family has never had a problem with cars (Toyota's, Benz's, BMW, my Acura, even the WS6). Quite simply, all cars do not have problems. I can't believe you said that most cars have problems, nor can I believe that you believe a $30K shouldn't be problem free. That is OK if you buy an American Car..and thats pretty much the reason why most American cars are pieces of shit. That's A-typical attitude that has lead Ford and GM into the shits. I do agree with you that he should go to a new dealer and try his luck.

i never had problems with my honda cars(clp, accord coupe 03) but i won't buy it anymore unless they make RWD or AWD..
also,honda/acura dealer sucks.. every dealer i go to, i feel like i'm being mistreated.

Hopefully you will get someone to warranty the unit and have it replaced. In terms of the dealership and Honda customer service, there's not much you can expect from them when they have not observed the problem nor diagnosed one. If you follow my logic, you can't really expect them to blindly warranty/replace parts that to them, seem to be nonproblematic and in working order, granted the Honda rep gave you a fishy line about the electronics.
Well, I am a millionaire and I think it is disgraceful what Acura is doing on this issue. They should live up to their responsibilities and horor their warranty. I don't care how much money I have, I don't feel compelled to waste it and purchasing a product that does not perform as advertised is a waste - no matter what the cost.
I see this as the same issue that the NSX has had with it's transaxle and the S2000 has with it's differential, "banjo bolts", and transmission.
We all know that Honda/Acura monitors these boards. Listen to what I say - I currently own 6 cars and trucks; 3 Honda/Acuras, 2 Toyotas, and 1 Ford. Unless you get it together and stand by your product, I will shift my future purchases elsewhere.

Dude 4 times a year is EXTREMELY INTERMITTENT...all i said was relax and find another dealer. And don't take the newbie status as an insult. I was just saying that I've been in the industry for many years now and I see this shit every day. I'm attacking the stuff he said about money ("you paid 30K for it" or somethin). That's a hell of an investment for a car and I expect it to run well. I'm not gonna let some mechanic tell me otherwise. Also, the Toyota's, Benz's, BMW, my Acura, and the WS6 are more than a couple cars. They run well and that should be the standard.
I understand sham. I feel the same way about paying for a luxury brand automobile (no matter what the cost) and having mechanical issue. It just doesn't seem right.

However, we now live in an era where an automobile is as perfect as the guy making the parts for it or assembling it. This is one reason why there are warranties.

The problem is, the Honda/Acura is NOT living up to their warranties. They did not fix the input shaft problem on the NSX and denied warranty claims. They have not fixed the mulitude of differential failures on the S2000 claiming abuse.
Tell me, how can a car company ADVERTISE their car can turn a 13.8 sec quarter mile and then come back and say that if you repeat that feat then you are abusing the car and deny any and all warranty work. Why should they be allowed to have their cake and eat it too at our expense.
In addition, all the TSBs issued by Honda/Acura on their cars are issued to avoid recalls. They tell the government that we will voluntarily fix any problems that present instead of issuing a recall. They then attempt to find an excuse to deny service to the customer.
txaggie's experience is NOT out of the ordinary - at least in my experience. I have taken my S2000 in for TSB work and have had the dealership deny that any bulletins had been issued. I am not refering to a single dealership, either. I have been to multiple dealerships with the same result. The last time, I printed out the TSBs prior to taking my car in for service. These instances are not circumstantial; they are a deliberate policy being instutited by American Honda to maximize their profits at our expense. The ONLY way to combat this injustice is to threaten them with the loss of future sales. I am on board with this endeavor.
I have not had similar experiences with Toyota so I am planning future purchases accordingly. In fact 2 or my last 3 car purchases have been Toyotas. I buy 1 or 2 cars a year, so it won't take long to turn over the fleet.

when dont you just try another dealership and ant7701 does know what he is talking about. he is the only one that i let touch my cars, and iam fcking anal about my cars. everycar is going to have a problem or two its understanable. they shouldn't but it happens. i just bought a new tl and my mic for my navi did not work, but they fixed and did not say a word.so just give another dealer a shot.
