performance chips for the 03 Cl type-s?

JET can do it. I've already taken my CLS to the top speed. 4th gear @6200 RPMS. And man the car just pulls the faster u go.

Hemmmm. All I have is a CAI. But my set up is PURE CAI. I was able to do mine here in Fla. the temp had to be in the high 80sm like 89oF or above. When I hit about, say, 5K in fourth the thing just pulled like a bat outa hell. I had a passanger in the car and we were both SHOCKED at how hard the car pulled passed 130. I mean when VTEC kicks it it FKin kicks in. All in all I bet if I were to take this thing to the Bonivell Salt Flats or the Autobaun, and had the govenor taken off I know that this car can do well over 160.

Most of the programming is done with the Jet programmer which plugs into the OBD-II diagnostic port (My chevy with the OBD-II does it this way). It's just a matter of plugging the unit in, and loading the new code.
FYI: If you're worried about the warranty, you can always back it out when you take it in for service. (it saves the OEM code in the Jet programmer - they become married so you and your friends can't share the same programmer)

Shit its been so long I can't remember the exact speed. Wither it was 142 or 147. I can't remember exactly, I did it last year.

Do you have to send your car's computer directly to JET or do they make an application where you can do it yourself? Also, has anyone had the car dynoed after the chip was put in?
you send your chip to JET and they will program it with the mods you have, then then send it back. You are without your car for like 1-2 days. Can't drive car without ECU. Everything is shipped 1 day and 1 day back, something like that. Its not much money for shipping, small and light package.

When you get a performance chip, they give you gains by advancing the timing. (They require you to put in higher octane fuel and usually a colder thermostat). In our case, we're running 92+ octane so that's the huge gain gone. (That's the generic drop in way).
Now, if you put on headers and a CAI, etc, etc, they can reprogram the chip to better use the airflow through the engine. But once again, the Comptech headers don't offer anything up to 5800 RPM, so I wouldn't bother....

AEM's EMS 1500? What would that allow us to do; retard/advance the timing, show us the fuel ratio, allow us to have VTEC kick in when ever we want?
Also what kinda gains could we expect by using that?

The car once vtec kicks back in around 120 in 4th, the car does pull hard again all the way up to 150 till I couldn't go anymore!
The CL-S/TL-S is actually limited to 149mph.... so that's as fast as you can go with the limiter on. Remember that the speedometer is not 100% accurate... so while hitting the 149mph limit your speedo may say 150+. Typically there is around 3% error on a speedometer, and the faster you go.. the more it's off.....
Personally I think the JetChip is a waste. There were one or two guys who got it on here and after a dyno showed little to no gains....

He is 100% a right. There is a small percentage of error to the speedometer when you get to high speeds. So it's impossible to know your EXACT speed until you the speed limit at 149mph (restricted by acura).
Also, if you change your tires size in the least bit, it will also add ot the error percentage.

I called many times asking for a fax (and was told I'd get one) of the dyno improvement. Never got one...
To prove that the Jet chip works, it would need a before/after dyno with a few runs AND to prove the top speed limiter was removed, someone would have to get to a high enough speed to eliminate ANY possible speedo error (160 would probably do it for me).
I keep getting such conflicting information about the chip being non-programmable, etc... (Only Jet claims they can “modify” the ECU programming)
response from jet:
"We do have an ecu upgrade available for your application. The ecu upgrade does require that the factory ecu be sent to us for modification. You must purchase the upgrade package before sending the ecu to us for
The modification. Suggested retail is $299.00, and the part number is 65001. The ecu upgrades are all done per the application, in other words, do all the modifications you intend on doing before you get the ecu upgraded. That way the program can be set up for the specific modifications. Hp gains would be dependant on the extent of modifications."

Now, call them up and ask them for a dyno of a CLS (pre- and post chip mod)
See if it ever comes (don't hold your breath)

I gave up!

It's not just the chip, but a whole stand alone computer system that replaces the OEM one. And it's about $1500 US.
