Depends on the person I guess...I would get it...have you seen how ugly it is with the lil wedge bulb exposed? It may not necessarily be worth $95, but for something to make the cleared headlights look more OEM...

Yea...but the point is...there is someone who can make these. The TL people are trying to get the guy to make them some...so we can try to get the guy to make us some also. I wonder if it will fit the 02 TL headlights.

Hey guys.

A number of people already expressed concern about the pricing being too steep. I agree; to a extent. I'm waiting for a response to see if we can get a price break due to the fact that our reflectors aren't as complicated as the S2K pieces.

Would you guys be interested as well? The '01-03 CL's would have to be a brand new mold since it's a tad different then the TL's. Let me know! I can start making a list for the CL.

And like some members on the board already said. More professional looking, OEM. And this will set us different from the people who just took out the amber pieces.

Also, whoever donates a pair of '01-03 Amber diffusers get a free pair of clear ones.

Oooooh! i like! Already a strong number from CL'ers! Hmm.....Well, I'm going to probably make a new thread with all the info. and make a list on my first post so I can re-edit it.

JakeCL, I'm sorry, but these are going to be a one off custom made pieces. These are not like Accord clear corners which is massly produced, and easily attainable and easily installed.

$95 ElegantTl is a little steep for the amount of plastic that is involved here and making it is not difficult either. That being said I do understand that there is labor involved and if the product is perfect fit than it is more understandable so if it is in the range of $50-60 count me in for smoked.

Collective27,

The procedure for clearing varies depending upon who your getting it from, but here is one approach:

http://www.ricks2k.com/info/instructions/diffuser.pdf

Its for an S2000, but it is the same procedure for our lamps. I believe this is the guy (Rick) that would be getting these diffusers produced for our application.

Alright, I just got a e-mail back. And everything is a go. Here is more information just to clear other things up.

Hi everybody. My name is Rick Hesel and my company, Rick's Signature Accessories (www.ricks2k.com), which makes an produces custom accessories for the S2000, will be producing the diffusers.

Since we have not had a chance to see the stock diffuser yet, it's impossible to set a final price, the cost of material is a rather minor variable here, since most of the costs are labor. It might end up being less than $90 but there is simply no way it will come down to $60.

These are made from a hand-made rubber mold and each mold lasts for a max of only 30 sets. Each set is hand-made and takes at least a three hours to produce. So it just isn't "a cheap piece of plastic," and those kind of reponses indicate no understanding of the what it takes to produce these kinds of things in the quantitites of 20 or 30 that are likely to be sold.

I we had demand for 1,000 pieces, we could lower the price substantially, but that is very unlikely to be the case.

So the economics are very plain and a price of around $90 is what is required to cover the costs and provide a modest margin.

A discussion raged for nearly 2 years on the S2000 forum about clear diffusers, since the only alternative was to buy a set of JDM of EDM headlamp assemblies for over $900. People searched high and low for companies that could make clear diffusers, and those that could wanted $250 - $300 a pair.

Until our diffusers came along there was no solution even approaching something as low as $100.

If anybody can find someone who'll make these for less at this low volume, great. Get them made and sell them Until then, we'll be making these for the people who recognize the value.

Okay! For those that are interested, Please e-mail me so I can know who's in. Instead of constantly checking back. This way, I can keep everyone up to date through e-mail. clears@acuradriver.com

ALSO, Whoever that has a pair of good condition amber diffusers. Please e-mail me. Like I said, those that provide a pair of amber pieces, get's a pair of clear ones for free.

I will also have to talk to Rick about the smoked versions. But he just went to the airport, so he'll be out of town for a while.

I've already contacted Hiper Industries who make a majority of the cleared headlights/tail lights as well as a good portion of the altezza lights and they said they do not have any plans as of yet for cleared headlights or altezza lights for our car. But he did mention to me to check back with him in about a month because they will be choosing what new products to develop for 2003 and of course i threw in a few ideas for our cars which are the headlights and carbon fiber altezza tail lights.

let's wait and see if they come up with anything in the next month.

You want "Altezza" style lights for the CL's?? :sqnteek: Please don't make it any worse then it already is. I don't want to see TL/CL's rolling around with ghetto "Altezza" Style lights, and cheap black triple projectors up front.

BTW, these will go into production once I get the amber diffusers.

The cleared out headlights we were referring to were just simply cleared out lights, not projector's. Just to get rid of the amber bar on the indicator.

As for the altezza lights, there are three types. They are the original altezza lights that are chrome, the carbon fiber housing, and the jaguar type which aren't clear at all, which look identical to our lights, except when you brake, you see a red circle instead of a big red square. which don't look too bad.

But i simply just shared that information to let people know what's going on out there for their information not a as a sign as to what i'm doing with my car.

Great news! now where are those amber diffusers...

slyraskal: I think you missed the purpose of this thread, you may want to go back and re-read the earlier posts.

We are looking for clear diffusers up front..that’s it, that’s all
I'm very satisfied with my lamp housings front to back.. I don't want altezza wannabe poser lights :ghey:

If this was an important thing to you why not try creating a new thread for it instead of hijacking this one.
