p2r test pipe or HF cat

Since the p2r test pipe is < $100 and the HF is more expensive im leaning toward the test pipe. I want to hear from anyone who has had a testpipe on there on CL. I have a Greddy Mx exhaust..thanks for any input

Hi,
I think the test pipe is a good cheap solution.

I think it will add some "interesting" sounds to your exhaust note but that all depends on what is going on after the pipe. Keep in mind you will need to run a spark-plug defouler of some type to keep the o2 sensor slightly away from the exhaust stream so as not to trigger a CEL.

Pro's:
- Personally, i think it increases top-end power over 4,000 rpm especially over 6,000
- I also think, with the right exhaust setup, you can have more fun with the type of sound coming from the car

Cons:
- I think below 2,000 rpm, the throttle tip-in will feel slightly more sluggish and lead one to believe they have lost torque (which might be true at low low rpm's)
- It can create some unwanted exhaust sounds and may result in the mufflers being overwhelmed where previously they were able to control the exhaust sound... this happened to me and I had to add a second resonator I had lying around.

I will be removing my mufflers soon to see what my exhaust sounds like, the removal of the mufflers (just a single day test) would leave my setup as:
--> CT Headers, Test Pipe directly into Borla XR1 Muffler, 24 inches later, Vibrant UQ Resonator.... out to Dual Greddy's EVO's (which would be temporarily removed)....

My exhaust is fully opened up and it took awhile to get use to it.
With a cat delete pipe your car will be crazy loud. and annoying under 3k. rpm's

Just got done raining.
Here a cold start of mine. I could not put the cammera behind the car ,the exhaust is to overwhelming for the cammera.
Can't even amagine how it is going to sound when I got the motor done.

I'm thinking about the test pipe and throwing on a 14" magnaflow resonator on that I have lying around. I have mid muffler removed and the 14832 magnaflows mufflers. I think I would like that. If I do that soon, I'll let you know what I think and if anyone has a similar set up, you do you like it?

My p2r test pipe came in today. I think I might be going a different route once I get the rest of my exhaust parts.

I just noticed you car doesnt have mufflers. So I doubt my car would be quite as loud as yours, being that I have mufflers and a resonator.

i have had both on my TL

and personally the HFC was not worth it to me, for the price of it

it could not even keep the CEL off by itself (it did for like a month though, when new, after that i had to put a defouler on it to keep the CEL off)

and the other thing is that with a test pipe, it did make the exhaust raspier, but i actually like it better the way it sounds with it though
but then again i do have one of the quieter aftermarket cat-backs on the market though, the Apexi

not the best, since you hear the dyno and intake more so, but will this one work... (you mainly hear it when it gets downshifted after the run)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5MTrMnfPPs

or this, again it's in a car wash, so not the best (and don't mind the idle surging after pulling out, i have been fighting it for months since swapping)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVlvD...eature=related

both of those are from a friend's phone, so not the best quality out there

edit: one more thing to mention when I did FIN ALLY swap to the 6-speed, it made the exhaust seem alot quieter (and a slightly different a tone, idk exactly why but it did , but it did)

also before i forget comptech headers too
