lol yea u can always go the G take route (ghettotake I call them) my buddy and I made a nice G-take for his interga, does the job but doesn't look so hot.

I have to have a sexy looking engine bay, but that's just me. if ur only concerned about how much u spend for the power u get, i'd go the cheapest route. and if u haven't already, get the underdrive pulley. you'll be super happy

hey you gotta do what you gotta do on your budget, but try to get something thats 1 peice. it will be more cash but youll get more preformance out of a single peice CAI than a modular "GAI". its all about the flow. Kmakazie makes one for the CLS thats 1 pc for $130. check it out here : www.andysautosport.com look under preformance and put in your car info.

well here's the Science lesson of the day....

i have a AEM CAI and it runs awesome. its piped down behind the drivers foglight to get to the good air. (FYI im a loser and like the sound it makes when you put it to the floor, it makes like a welfare turbo sound when you really open it up.) The one peice is better because when the actual air comes in and makes the turn in the intake to the TB it stays fairly stable. you can add things like spiral max that form the air in a type of vortex.

But when the intake is modular and held toegther by the rubber clamps, the air rushing over the joints becomes turbulant and the intake isn't as effective.

If you put both in a wind tunnel and used smoke you could see the diffrence, it has to do with the density of the air, this is where i believe the spiral max comes in (i think) and the whole thing is WAY over my head to be able to explain it properly.

But people i know who understand these things have told me; smooth one peice = Good <- that i can understand!

that's why i always wondered about the P2R intake (no offense) I have all the shyt accept that intake (tho i probably would have bought it after knowing about them) but I just pounce on the best brand intake I could get my hands on that was chrome and Injen was a hell of a good choice if i may say so myself.

the P2R goes from 4 inches to 3 i believe and since I know a little bit about physics and hydraulics yo gotta wonder if that creates a bottleneck affect which hinders the flow of air. however I bwelieve they did the best with the graduated bend as opposed to every other intake I've seen for our cars the have a pretty sharp bend. AEM i think is the steepest bend that i've seen... moreso than injen FYI

I have a Comptech Icebox, but the AEM's sound great. Go look at StreetKA's 1/4 mile videos and you can hear how nice it sounds.

BTW i read that post again, it does sound like i said that the Intake runs great....
i mean the car runs great with the intake....

i like the AEM, sounds like it's tryin to suck the road lamp out of the bumper!

anyone know about the intake cl-s progression was talkin about that narrows after the bend? ive seen that and i thought constant size was optimal? whats the deal? like he said seems like it would restrict more than help.

Its the P2R. Its a 4" intake which then tapers down to the proper size of the stock throttle body. As long as the taper is smooth, it can actually speed up the air flow, which is better.

Kern, I got the Spyder intake, and for the money it's not too bad. However, you'll want to buy new hoses (the ones that come with it aren't sturdy enough), and probably buy a K&N filter or something to replace the one that it comes with. You can hold it up to the light and see through it, it's sort of just a really fine screen material.
