P0172 code problem NEED HELP BAD
i got stock 03 cl w/64k miles. i had a problem before where the bearing on the rocker arm broke so it was replaced and then thats when i start to have this problem. its coming up as a p0172 bank 1. Also at idle the motor will shutter and drop from 1k to .5 and then sometime will just shut off when coming to a stop light. Also while driving it will seem like the motor just shut off and then kicked back on. Most threads that i have seen are about supercharged Cl's and I'm not at that point yet (hopefully soon or maybe turbo). I put 1 bottle of fuel injector cleaner before because the car was sitting for a while (like 1yr but started every once in a while). I have changed the o2 sensor already it worked fine for about 4 days and now the problem reappears with the same code. Can anyone help please?

Not sure but I want to say someone here recently had the same code and symptoms and it turned out to be the Idle Air Controle Valve on the throttle body. IAC

fuzzy is right that the code is not for the IACV(Idle Air Control Valve) but it is a long shot that it is the source of your problem. if your only having trouble when completely OFF the throttle it is a maybe. I dont remember who it was that did this. Hope you get it straight.

are there any other temporary coded stored as well? If so It could be a number of things.
since you already replaced the 02 its probably not that.
1st. to do is check the fuel pressure.
2nd. You need to with a vacuum pump apply vacuum to the evap purge valve from the intake manifold side and see if it holds vacuum. If yes move on to #3
3rd. could be the injectors.

ok well i just took apart my throttle body and cleaned it and the IACV. when i was done wit that i reset the ecu. right now it is running at or between 1k to .5k and hasnt dropped or tried to shut off yet. But the check engine light is still on. its about to storm so i had to put it all back together for now im gonna pull the code tomorrow and try to find some good fuel system cleaner and dump that in and then see if anything changes. then mission continues....
