Hold select and reset buttons at the same time while the car is running for approxiamtly 10 seconds, you will hear a beeping noise, and you will notice your outside temp guage go psitive then negative 3 degree's. but that is all it can go!

sorry to bump this...but i didn't want to start another thread if there was another one still up...

I've noticed my temperature guage read...well...just plain wrong sometimes. Today, i was heading over to Little Ceasar's for a pizza and the guage read 75...when it was CLEARLY in the mid to high 80's. I noticed it first did this when i had the coolant flushed...Now i know the sensor is located in the space just behind the front bumper ahead of the radiator...i think...Could spilled coolant have done anything to disrupt it? Or is my sensor just bad? Now somedays it does pretty good, but today...it was off the mark...big time.

The main reason i'm needing to remedy this is because i don't want my A/C turning off because of a faulty temp guage reading lower than it should. According to the owner's manual, if the outside temp. reads lower than the climate setting in the car, the A/C will turn off. I keep mine on 75 at full auto and it feels perfect...but i'm screwed if my car thinks its 65 on a 90 degree day...

sorry for the rant...

I had the same problem on another car, the sensor will probably need to be replaced.

I'm not sure about this, but I think Piaa bulbs or other bulbs in the road lamp can throw off the reading at night. Sometimes when I get back in the car after I have been driving in relatively cool (for FL) weather at night, the temperature reads 105 degrees (after I've had the car sitting for 10 mins or so) when the engine heat needle is at normal and it goes pretty slowly down to 86 (or whatever temp it is) after I've been driving the car for a bit. During the day it seems decently accurate maybe off by a couple degrees.

So, I just got my CL-S 6 speed. Outside temp gauge not displaying at all. Since it was still under warranty, I brought it in. 2 weeks later, they still can't get it fixed, and they say it might be another 2 weeks. They say that it has to be shipped to California for recalibration. Why don't they just replace it?

Could it be that they just want to keep my sweet CL-S for a nice little ride? I have a 05 TL as a free loaner, but I like the ride in my CL-s better. Really, the new TL auto does nothing for me.

I asked to pick up my car, but they said they have the components off, and it's not driveable right now.

Sound suspicious to you?

why not just take it for what it is and abuse the loaner while you're at it? who knows what's taking so long, maybe the mechanics at the dealership you took it to suck. try another dealership maybe?
