Ordered My Teins

Finally I have ordered my Tein coilovers from blxmjx!
I cant wait to put them in.

I called Acura today and they said it would cost $358 CAD to install and do an alignment. Is that too much??

what settings should I go with, the suggested settings in the manual? any suggestions?

I received mine yesterday from him as well. I'll probably be installing them this weekend. Does anyone know if I have to compress the new Tein spring when I install? I'm almost certain that you need to compress the old one's to get them off. Anyone?

Does blxmjx work for a distributor? I'm thinking of doing something with my suspension, but not sure. One though would be CT springs now and wait until later to do shocks (when they wear out). Other thought was to do the Tein SS coilovers and get the EDFC. Anyone know what the cost difference is between CT springs + Koni's vs. Tein SS w/ EDFC?

Now, for the coilovers, is a camber kit required? The Tein allows for you to adjust the dampening as well as ride height, right?

EDFC won't fit on the CL if that's what you are planning on doing

CT Springs + Koni's will cost a little more if not the same, but you'll be paying double the installation if you buy them one at a time.

reasonable price for install ...

Dude,

That is a reasonable install price -- C$358. Alignment at the local Acura dealership is C$90 in Toronto (excluding taxes). So C$250 to install? At C$80/hr ... that's about right ... 4 hrs to do. Be sure to keep your parts in case you decide to sell 'em.

You're lucky that you don't have provincial sales tax ... that's another 8% us Ontario people have to worry about...

Settings? I don't have Teins so I wouldn't know ... do a search. (I got scared of the Teins seizing up due to the salt they throw on the roads here in the winter...)

also, be aware that the TEIN's were designed for the AV6, and our cars are a little heavier than the Accords. Some people have had problems with bottoming out. There is an upgrade to the TEIN SS which costs somewhere between $30-$50 per corner (forget the exact figure). I'm still waiting for TEIN to decide whether or not they are going to come out with a CL specific application. Also, if they do come out with this new application, it will not be mix n match with the current set.

y2k almost all springs out there for your car were designed for the av6. I think comptechs are the only ones that weren't.

Even the comptechs are designed for the AV6. Checkout comptech's website (comptechusa.com) and you'll see the CL/TL springs carry the exact same part # as they do for the AV6.

I had my Tein SS coilovers put on about 2 weeks ago, and I love them. Combined with the Comptech swaybars, the car handles great. Because I have a TL-S I was able to put the EDFC on, so I'm able to adjust the dampening anytime I want. I'd recommend running at halfway between soft and hard (should be level 8), if you want a good medium between the two. I did find that running at full dampening was nice on the highways, since there aren't too many turns on the highways in this area and then the ride is almost as smooth as stock.

I have the car running at 2.0"s lower in the front and rear... haven't had any problems with bottoming out at all except once when I was running with no dampening and I hit a big pothole. (I think 0 dampening is really only good for track purposes).

Good luck with the Teins, I think you'll really like them.

And BTW the price you got on the install was pretty good! I think I paid $300 USD from my local dealer, plus another $70 or so for an alignment (including camber adjustment). Your price includes alignment and I dont recall what the exchange rate is right now, but it should be lower then $370 USD.

No need to compress the TEINs during install. THey are much shorter than the OEM springs.

Man...most of you guys can do the install your self. There are very comprehensive instructions on the a-tl.com site.

And alignment of $70 is all you will need to pay.

Anyone looking at Teins should check our own Black Market first, especially if they want them cheaper. I have a set there myself for $600 + shipping that have less than 10k on them.

Look Im sorry I was just posting on this thread to let people know who want to buy new TEINS to check this auction out. That is all. Sorry I want you to sell your used TEINS but I know some people like to only buy new and this is a good deal.
