Opinions on 2003 CL-S6
The CL clutch is a tough one to used to and many have trouble with it. I am the second owner of my CLS-6 and the previous owner didn't seem like a dork who would abuse his car, but the clutch was gone when I got it at 50K. I put a new clutch and flywheel in it and it is solid. With the 6MT this car is bulletproof and a lot of fun to drive. I had a 5AT before and there is no comparison. The ABP is a great color... (when it is clean).
If he replaces the clutch you are golden... go for it!

Yeah, the clutches can go on these cars, but I think it's not unheard of to get 150K plus miles on a honda clutch... Of course, most of those were on 4 cly. cars, and Honda/Acura just started introducing 6spds on their cars a few years ago. Maybe the added stress of a V6 has something to do with it, but mine is fine after 51K miles, and I'm pretty hard on clutches...
I'm wondering since they are so willing to repaint the bumpers ($300 per roughly), and replace the clutch ($1000?? with labor ??), and whatever else you want, if they can't do all that and also come down on the price too...

Well I was told that it was a one owner car (carfax confirmed) and that it was traded in at a Chevy dealership. Its a used car lot, BTW.
He originally wanted $18995 but I got him to do the bumpers and for $18,000. When I went there to buy it, I test drove it with my dad, I jumped on the car and it free-revved in 2nd and 3rd. So my father was likt don't get on it anymore and bring it back.
The guy called me today and I told him that the clutch was slipping. He said he is 99% sure that it wasnt and that he would put a clutch in it. He said he would drive it then call me back. When I spoke to him again he said it wasn't slipping and he ran through the gears and spun the tires...B.S. unless he sucks at driving, I ripped the shit out of it and it slipped.
So trying to make this long story short, he is going to call me tomorrow and let me know about the clutch. So until then I am up in the air about it and I will bring it to my mechanic who is a long-time Honda/Acura mechanic and he will look the car over. He told me I could if I put a deposit on the car. I said ok a long as its fully refundable.
I really like this car, but this is seeming to be a big hastle.
Any thoughts??

There are some good ones out there... just keep looking. The 6MT CLS is a hard to beat in terms of value... there is not much in that price range that is anywhere near as much fun to drive. I would actually rather have one that just had a new clutch put in as you know what you have to start with. Buying a used car with a clutch is a gamble... you never know how it has been driven.
thats a deal
Thats a pretty good deal in my opinion. I got mine last year with 14K miles on it for $21k, so you;re getting a great price if you can get them down to $17k. I don't have Navi, but I do have a certified 100k warranty from Acura. All you have to do is tell them, "who teh hell is going to buy a stick shift?" It worked for me. It was originally $25k, but I got them down to $21k + tax and title. Good luck.
use that clutch as a barganing tool.....either have them replace and drop the price 500 or look for perfomance clutch you can put in and have them drop the price to 1500 lower....he has to make a deal....no matter what the car has a problem and fixing it isnt making it better....drop the price...now they cant say shizzzzznit...
The only option to the OEM clutch is the CT one... which is expensive as it also includes a flywheel. There are some pretty high HP applications that are using the OEM clutch with no problems. I went with OEM replacement.
