Biggest Dumb F*ck mistake!
Biggest Dumb F*ck mistake!
heres what happened,
i once again tried to replace the rotor, but forgot to put the parking brake on so the jack went all the way up and i pulled the tire,BOOM my car fell, the right side from bumper now has a dent and it came out but i fixed the came out part, and now the fender has more space between the door and the fender a index finger worth! 2 the right side is now 5 fingers in height and the left side is 4 (the space between tire and fender) what the hell happened? is it going to cost me a SHIT LOAD? it drives fine and brakes fine .I AM NEVER WORKING ON MY CAR AGAIN!

really? maybe im just noticing it. how much do you think itwould cost to get that fender replaced or fixed? or you think its even worth fixxing? heres a big question, im a freshman college student, and i frucked up like a dumbass because i shoulda never worked on this car its out my league, now do you think i should turn around and sell it and buy another one, or drive it till it dies and get it fixed, has 105k on it.
Fender was probably popped out a bit when the car hit the floor ,causing a bit more wheel space or it was like that to begin with. My beemer has something similar, but the fender sticks out a bit more on one side than the other.
Good thing you weren't under the car at the time. I had a cousin find out the hard way. Luckily he had a crv, so he still had room to spare, but it was a frightening experience nonetheless. Check for any other damage as well. Some might be well hidden.

I can't help but laugh a little. Shit happens, don't worry about it. See if you can pop the dent out from behind the bumper. You may not be able to fix it completely, but might make it look better.
Wow, good thing you weren't under it!
I never used my scissor jack unless I absolutely had to. I'm with CleanCL, get a floor jack but next time remember to put on parking brake and chalk the tires!

Thursday August 31 2006, my car went to Acura to have its tranny replaced for free, through Good will assistance, so i should get it back today, but i wont have a warranty on the tranny, its time for an 03CLS 6 spd. thats why you would buy MY CL for 8k or more.
The most likely problem with the "5 fingers" issue is that when it dropped, it bent the fender which has a rolled curve in the metal (the wheel well). That part fo your fender that is "flared out" (the edge around the tire) is made that way, not only to go out further than your tire, but to also add structural integrity to the metal. If it didn't have that, it would be to "floppy". Now with that said... Your fender has several bolts holding it on, one being on the bottom of the fender (right before the door) and if that area got bent from dropping it would shift the entire fender. Most likely, since you said the bumper was pushed in as well, it was the front of the fender that "shifted" (bent) since it doesn't really bolt on to any structural part of the unibody fame. The front bottom of the fender (on most cars) is usually just free floating for the most part and has it support from the bumper cover and a thin brace which is probably slightly bent. If you bend the front of the fender up, it will make the middle (right above the tire) stick out and up which will give it the bigger gap. If this is the case, it will also pull the fender forward as well causing a bigger gap between it and the door. Also, if you wanted to try and fix it, you would need to look behind the headlight and see if where the front top edge (not inside engine compartment), of where the fender is connected to the body, is bent. You can probably get an aftermarket fender for a decent price and just replace it.

When you bend metal it stretches and can cause the metal to not reshape properly, unless you know what you are doing.
Sorry so long, but I hope this gives you an in depth idea of what happened.
