Arrow Opinions on 2003 CL-S6

I went to look at a Cl-S6 yesterday.
It is ABP, 6 speed and navigation.
The car has 32k on it and it is in good condition.

There were a few chips, scratches and dings on the car and the interior was in good shape.

exterior: 7/10
wheels: 7/10
interior: 8/10

They are asking $18995. I think I could get the car with the bumpers touched up for ~$18000.

Does this sound like a good deal to you?

I'd try to get it for $17k but $18k isn't bad, esp. since it has navi IMHO. Go for it!

yeah, i'm with helmet on this one, it's not a bad deal, but it won't hurt to try to get it for less. That's pretty good mileage for an '03 though.

I would like to get it for less because the car isn't perfect.

It is somewhat of a rare car with the color, tranny and nav option.

depending on where you are....you should be able to talk them down to 17k....use all the scratches to bump them down...and any other derformaties....

Pay them the 18k but get everything you want done on it (i.e. touch ups, maybe tires)

Try to talk them down a bit, but it retails for around $20,000, so $18k is still a good buy. Go for it!

The tires are good
It looks like it will def. need front brakes
The bumpers have a few dings in them
The trunk has a mark like someone threw an egg at it (had one on my old car, and knew that it was an egg that hit it, same marks)
The shifter looks a little worn, but other than that, the car looks good.

I looked at the carfax, says its a one owner car and the mileage checks out.
It is from a used car dealer and he said he would fix the bumpers. I would also get him to do the brakes at the least.

Not a bad deal. Does it have any warranty left?

It was bought new in 6/02 according to the carfax.
so 4year/50k miles.
I think the warranty is up then in 6/06 which already passed.

Sound good to me, but cheaper is always better...

It's got good mileage, has navi, and is a 6spd...

Do you like the color ?? My top 3 colors (at the time I bought) was Red, Blue, and Black, so you won't get any arguments from me on those colors...

If you could get it for 17K, I'd say it was an excellent deal...

I would try to get them to come down a bit. But that's because I'm cheap. It seems like a good deal.

And ABP is an awesome color.

Yea, I love the color.
At one point I posted here that I was looking for that exact car. Everyone told me that it was next to impossible b/c they made so few.
So maybe its a sign.

I want my father to come look at the car with me, so I can get another opinion.

It was up on one of those car tower things when I went, thats why i didn't test drive it yet.
I'll have to test drive it first, obviously.

I was having second thoughts about it, but you guys are making me want it more.

Just called the guy to get it down from the lift. I am going to drive it tonight at 7:00 and if it all seems good and he will fix:
1. front brakes; looked low when I looked at them
2. rear bumper (some chips, on minor hole)
3. front bumper (chips)

Other than that it has better than average wear for a 32k, 4 year old car.
I might just buy it tonite....

If I can get it for $18k with all of those things i mentioned above fixed, is it a good deal still?
Of course i am going to go lower, but I can only go so far.
$17-17.5 would be prefect, but if I really like it, $18 is feasible.

Wish me luck

Don't know your location but that is a cheap price for a 6 speed with Navi IMO. My anthracite has 34k miles, and I have about 9 months left on the orig warranty, it is near new shape, (had all the dings taken out this summer).
I wouldn't sell mine anywhere near that low.

Hope it checks out okay. THe mileage is lower than average, try to see if there is a bad reason why. It's probably fine, Blue is nice and rare too!

Depending on what they are selling them for in your area...try to do 500 above the TMV only if they aren't willing to go with what you originally asked, no more. Just don't get scammed. Also look it up in KBB.com, print it out, show to their face, and tell them what YOU want

Well....
I just got back from driving the car and I think I bought it .

It was rainy so there was no performance test drive as 2nd gear just went up like nothing. Seems like its got some power. I have a 12 sec. mustang so its not amazing, but def. fun for everyday.

OK heres the financials.
Both front and rear bumpers to be sprayed and brakes done for $18,000.

I think I got a good deal. I have to do the loan paperwork tomorrow and once that goes through about 2 days for the prep work (bumpers, detail, etc.)

How many ABP 6 speeds with navi were made? Wasn't it a low number?

So they are a low numbers production car...they only made 68 ABP, 6-speed and navi....

I am going Saturday to look at it once more with my father then if and when I buy it, I should get it on Tuesday.

I will let you know if I don't get it. Chances are that I am def. gonna buy it. I went to the bank today to get the down payment. I am going tomorrow morning to look at it again with my father and most likely buy it.

Well....I drove the car again on Saturday and when I got on the car the clutch was slipping .
So I don't think that I am going to get it. It doesn't bother me that much if he would put a new clutch in it, but why in 32k miles does it need a clutch unless it was driven hard?

I get 10k from my mustang clutch, but I drive it like I stole it.

So you think its not worth it for 18k and it needs a clutch.

If it needs a clutch at 32k miles, I'd wonder what else was abused or malfunctioning. I'd pass unless the price was dropped to like $15k or less.

I just spoke with the guy and he says that he is going to have it looked at. If he gets new clutch put in, is it still worth it?

There are 2 things that can make a clutch go that soon:
1. Bad driving, slipping the clutch or not knowing how to drive; or
2. beating on the car

If he puts a new clutch in, is it still a good deal for $18k?

The clutch on the car sucks....I've been driving manual for a while now and am careful about driving the CLS, but it started slipping at about 45.000 miles. I know of a couple others on this forum who had theirs done even below that! Well, maybe that really beat on it, but I know in my case, I didn't beat on the car. My Integra's clutch lasted more than 60,000 miles (when it got totalled) and it felt strong.

If the clutch is gone at 32k, chance are the car was abused or someone who didn't know how to drive manual drove it.

I would make sure that the engine is sound, like no bent rods or messed up valves.

Its a used car lot.
Carfax says its a one owner car from a town by me.
The only reason that I am pushing getting the car is that it is rare and I like it a lot.
BUT I do not want a financial nightmare...
