Charge the battery, gas her up, and see what happens.
After it fires up, make sure to change the oil right away.
I personally would not attempt to crank it. I would disassemble the block, inspect and hand lubricate the pistons, crank and camshaft/valve train.
At the very least - hand turn the crank to make sure the motor is not siezed.
Just my opinion.

Pretty much anyway you have to turn the motor over with out it getting spark is ok. After 2 years the top end of your engine is dry as a bone, so you need to get some oil up in there before you start the motor

Put some oil down the sprk plug holes and turn the engine over without the plugs in it. Kind of anal for a '77 olds unless it's special but it will make a nice cloud when you start it!! Should lube the rings a bit too. If it's rusty in there you may want to use auto trans fluid or some Marvels Mystery oil. Run it for a bit and change the oil before you drive it.
