Oil filter question

For those of you who change your oil at 7500miles and filter around 3k miles. Do you guys just replace the oil filter? and won't the oil start dripping if you didn't completely drain the oil? thx in advance

drain your oil first, then change your filter, then fill oil. change between 3-6k miles. no need to change every 3 if you drive alot of highway miles. oil companies are making a killing off the BIG MISCONCEPTION that oil needs to be changed every 3k miles, especially in foreign motors

Best way to gauge is just regularly check your dip stick and look for any discoloring in the oil and for any metal flakes...
When the oil looks dirty or dark in color(compared to the oils original color) then you know its time to change your oil.

I would change the filter every time you change your oil.

i change my filter when i change my oil

i would think if you tried to take the filter off without draining the oil, youre gonna have a mess.

At 3K miles before removing the filter place a drain pan under it, or a big rag first, then unscrew it. It holds about half a quart and another one forth of a quart will drain out from where it was held onto the engine. Fill up the new filter with oil (helps prevent a momentary dry start), lube the gasket and install. Run the engine for a minute and shut off and wait five minutes for the oil to drain down to the pan. Check your dipstick and add any that's needed-should be just alittle bit.

Every 10k with Mobil 1 (oil and filter). I might start changing every 7,500, but the oil was pretty clean after 10 the last time. Probably overkill to do it every 7,500.
