Oil Changes-Some Suggestions

I was thinking about my car to much last night, so for those who do their own oil changes, I offer the following helpful information.

1. Do the oil change in the morning, after the car has sat overnight and most of the
oil has settled in the pan.

2. Drain the pan and then Pop a little hole in the bottom of the oil filter to drain out the 2 ounces or so inside. (this is alot cleaner than just unscrewing it and letting it ooze everywhere).

3. Use the Frame filters with the "textured end" (for those who don't have "the filter tool") this helps next time for easy unscrewing.

4. Cut the bottom out of one of the empty oil containers and use it as a funnel. (harder w/ the Mobil 1, it has a larger dia. end).

5. Clean off the magnetic end of the drain plug, this does collect some small metal fibers over time.

That's about it, not a real rocket science
just a few suggestions.

I always run the engine a few minutes to make the oil warm, thus it flows out easier. I also use a cut plastic soda bottle as a funnel.

mechanics and people with experience have always said to bring your engine to operating temperatures, which is the needle in the middle of the oil temp gauge before you drain your oil, because hot oil is thinner, thus flows out better, and you actually get more out this way...

Never popped a hole on the filter. I'll do that next time. But Fram?? I believed that's the lowest rated filter!?
