I don't mess with Jiffy Lube, Speedy whatever any more, on when I had a POS. I change it myself, Castrol does good for me.

Do it Yourself - Save $$$ - get better oil

Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5w30 (Honda + Mobil = )
Get on Ebay and buy yerself a box of 10 Honda stamped Filtertech filters for $15

The J32 engine is one of the easiest you'll ever change the oil on. The drainplug is cake to get to, and the oil filter is nicely angled into the passenger side wheel well. Aside from a little oil dripping when you change the filter, after doing it once or twice, you won't even get dirty. No need to jack the car up - even if it's lowered. Everything is accessbile.

You can get the nice 5 quart jugs of Mobil at the wallymart for $22.

Total cost of oilchange = 10 minutes of your time and $24. (including the filter)

Total cost of Jiffylube = 20 minutes of your time and $38. (for a shitty filter to boot)

Nothing wrong with Castrol Syntec either - It's a "Coke vs Pepsi" kinda thing. Honda likes Mobil.

Like Pseudomaniac said, do it yourself and save money. I haven't made the switch to synthetic quite yet (because of construction in my area and intervals are shorter for me) but i use Castrol 5W-20 and a regular filter. I usually change the oil every 3k miles. Will probably move to synthetic later on this year.

When you go to places that do the oil change for you, you run the risk of getting shitty service. There primary goal is speed and profit, so the longer your car is in their bay, the less money they make.... so they frequently cut corners. When I used to take my girlfriend's car into Walmart I noticed twice that they did not change the oil filter even though I paid for that shit. I start shit and they take the car back and redo it. I never give my cars to the 'shop' to change.

if i feel too lazy or dont have time ill take it to a oil changing place. I bring in my own oil and filter and watch them change the oil up close so they dont fuck anything up

So far ive been using 5w-20 royal purple with honda filter for about 20k miles.

Just wonder, if anyone try to use a aftermarket bolt that design to drain oil w/ a flip of a switch insteads unscrew the bolt out. I think they're selling it at Walmart.

Me ... just bought an "Oil Boy" for doing my oil changes. Works great. Just put the tube supplied with the unit down through the oil dipstick tube .... and starting pumping away. About 4 minutes later, your "holding tank" is ready to go to the recycler. Of course, gotta do the filter too which is no hassle.

On the occasion that I do use a place like this I do the following;

Bring my own Mobil 1 5w-30 and watch them put it in. 4.5 qts only.
Bring my own Mobil 1 filter and ask them to put some oil in it first (to help with startup) and not to overtighten it
Tell them to tighten the drain plug to spec and no more.
Make sure a new washer is used.
On startup do NOT rev the engine. Just let it idle.

Chevron Oil Stop actually lets you stay in the car so the last one is a done deal. They also torque to spec automatically and have been cool on the other items. I like them.

Do you need some kind of special washer or can I get them at Home Depot. What size washer, rubber or metal? I ask because I never replaced the washer before and never really looked at it.
