Oil Change interval with SYNTHETIC

i started using mobile 1 SYN after the first oil change and all my subsequent changes have been at around the 3000 mi mark --- i guess i need some reassurance that i can take synthetic past conventional oil/3000mi mark-- let alone the 3750 that the manual designates as the mark for regular oil -- i know its a waste of money to use SYN and change at 3000 --but its even more of a waste to wreck a good car ----so how far does everyone go with Mobile 1 SYN-- also does anyone go to 3750 with conventional oil?--- im at 3300 mi now and am getting nervous about changing it --should i wait

i run mobile 1 synthetic (blue cap - 5w 30). i shoot to change it every 3,000 miles - so i get it done usually by 3,500 since i procrastinate, wait for good weather, wait for a free honda oil filter from my cousin, and wait for it to be under $4/qt. i saw better safe than sorry. that's why my CAI has a bypass filter too

I about to change mind about 4K. Synthehetic oil allows you go longer than regular oil. If you want more info, I think there was a thread about this. So, go search function look for it.

it's all in the filter, here's some fun reading. I change my amsoil every 6k but I use a $7 sub micron filter, synthetic doesn't react to heat the same as petro oil so it has cleaner by products and last a long time. read the amsoil pages under oil info for some unbelievable but lab tested 20k+ oil changes. mobil1 tested pretty good if you need a familiar brand name.

Since the manual states we change our regular oil every 7,500 miles, I think changing synthetic every 3-4k miles is silly. Even under "extreme" driving conditions the manual states 3,750 (or thereabouts). I think mercedes benz and bmw recommend changing synthetic about every 15k miles, I'd say that's about fair for honda engines since our engines are around as clean buring and well built as the germans. Call Acura if you really want to know. If you are an "oil changing freak" then go ahead and change every 7,500 miles (synthetic).

Agree with Technique. I use M1 5W30 and wait for the light to come on permanently which is 7500 miles. Just use an OEM filter.

i rememer reading somewhere that honda does something special with their filters. I can't remember what but I just remember it is best to use the OEM filter. I think it was something about not letting all the oil drain out of it when you turn off the car. That way the whole oil return system has oil in it.

I use Mobil-1 synthetic oil/filter and change every 6,000 miles. You're wasting your money if you use synthetic and change it more frequently.
