Oil change interval

Yeah Ive searched, but probably not good enough and I don't have access to the owners manual right now.

What is the mileage and time that is stated by the mfg for oil changes in the CLS. I think the mileage is 3750 or something like that, but how long can I go between changes. I have mobil one in it right now and I don't drive the car all that much. In the last 7 months I have put 2500 miles on my car. The dealer told me that if I exceed 6 months between oil changes I could void my warrenty.

Sorry in advance for creating another oil thread, but I need this answer

Definately change it after 6 months even if you don't do the mileage. I personally change about ever 45-60days and 5,000 miles with M1.

I am always surprised to read how many people have low mileage Acura's, even more so on 1st gen Acura's. It seems like people buy these things and garage them.

I do 7500 as the manual says... 3750 is for severe driving...

He're the maintenance sheet:

You really can't tell if you should increase or decrease your drain interval unless you get oil analysis done on a sample of your oil.

There's a thread about oil going on now in cartalk:

Yup its in the garage most of the time. I know the car isn't an exotic but in the winter when the roads are covered in snow or salt I prefer to drive my explorer. In the summer my driving is split between my CLS and my motorcycle.

Thanks for all the answers guys. I went ahead and had them do the oil change while it was getting inspected today. The $60 it costs for a M1 change is worth it not to argue with them over future warrenty issues.

I change it every 6000 to 7500 depending on how much driving I do. And I use Mobil 1 as well. All I have to do is buy the oil and filter. if I don't change it my self, my mechanic does it for a cup of coffee and a couple bucks.

I have always changed my own oil and still do in my explorer. However since I have had my CLS I have had it serviced at the dealer. I don't know how much longer thats gonna happen though. When I first got it I was ultra conservative and worried about maintaing the warrenty. Now I don't care as much

I always get mine changed soon after the Maintanence light starts blinking at me. I drive the car a lot so it never makes it 6 mos. I don't remember how many miles that is. I remember reading it in the OM though.

I change with Mobil 1 oil + M1 oil filter.
I buy oil at wall mart $20 for 5 qt. Oil filter $10.
My mechanic does the job for $10.
Total cost ~$40 for full synthetic oil and top quality oil filter.
I think its worth it, I keep it 6-7K miles.

My 03 only has ~20K on it. It's not my beater car.

I change oil & filter every 7500 miles.

I only change my oil every 6 months. I will not come close to 5k miles in that time too. My job is only 5 miles away. M1 with M1 filter.
