oil change.

i am due for a oil change soon and i was planning on taking her in for a change at los gatos acura, cause i have some warentee work that need to be done also.

i was gonna bring my own oil and filter in with me, they said they will charge 22.00 for the change if i brought my own supplies in. Seem reasonable?

also i want to get mobil one oil and filter. what grade should i use? and what size filter?

should i go synthetic? i have about 13,000 miles. and if i do go sythentic do i need to do anything prior to the change or is it like any other oil change?

Wow my dealer charges $24 and that includes oil and filter. You can't really compare prices from diffrent area's but $22 with your own stuff seems a little high

You dont need anything done to be able to use synthetic oil. Just change it. I think 22.00 for taking yur supplies is somewhat high. It cost about 26.00 to get oil and filter only. U can get synthetic oil changes for about 40.00 at the lube stations. If I were you just DIY and just take the car in for warranty service.

use jack and jack stands. then buy a container at autozone to drain old oil.

buy oil 4 and 1/2 quarts (5w-30) and an oil filter. very easy.

You'll more than pay for the above parts in the first change!

Dude, you are in PA... what do you expect? Los Gatos Acura is in one of the most expensive places in the USA... Of course you can't compare prices, so don't!!!

$22 for a change with bring your own oil is a GREAT price...

asloudasitgets: That's a great price... Los Gatos Acura charges around $100/hour for labor so you are getting a STEAL at $22 with bring your own oil...

PS - The manager there (Jim) is a SUPER cool guy... Treat him right and he'll treat you right...

Shoot! dont do it with jack stands, if anything go a buy a set of low profile ramps at Auto Zone and do the job in a safe manner. You can get them in heavy duty plastic or steel ramps
