Oil

Which brand of oil does everywhere prefer? I heard to stay away from Pennzoil and Quaker State because they cause sludge. I am using Castrol GTX.

My CLS has 103K and I am wondering if I should/could switch to a full synthetic like Mobil 1 or Castrol Synthetic. Maybe I should use a high mileage oil?

Thanks in advance.

sorry pimp. I tried searching for "oil" "oil preference" "recommended oil" and others and I had a hard time finding anything through the results. You have a thread off-hand?

Mobil-1 0-20 and 5-20 for 50,000 miles now. Oil analysis shows extremely low wear.

Mobil1 is the best if you don't want to pay extra $$$ for Amsoil.
Also, Mobil1 is available at wallmart and any other auto stores.

Switching to full synthetic at 100,000 plus can cause problems with seals and gaskets leaking....if going to syn on high miles, they say to go the blend-syn oil route first and if no problem go to full syn....

I use M1 in the acura...my 1990 gmc sub...is at 330k miles on regular quaker state every 3000 miles..??? Main thing appears to be to change oil on a regular bases....

It def. can cause problems.... But I started using full synthetic in my integra with 104k and it worked perfect, you just have to check on it regularly to make sure your not losing oil.

I use Lucas 5w-20 full synthetic and it runs like a Dream!

I would go for it man, worst thing that could happen is you have to another oil change if the synthetic is leaking. Just make sure you watch it otherwise you'll be sorry!
