OH NO Altima Coupe!!!

As the title says I am having a little trouble with my friend who is getting a new v6 altime coupe. These things are fast, i raced one on rt.80 a few weeks ago and i got spanked. I cant have him have a faster car than me.

So heres the question what can i do without going FI to make my car a sub6 second car from 0-60? I already got my XS Headers and I am planning on ordering an icebox from excelerate.

Is there anything else? I can think of a larger TB and thermoblock spacers and that P2R Plenum, but those mods still arent enough. I have a good amount of $$$ saved up in my bank and i just need to get some advice from the CL gurus.

I figured XS Headers, A comptech icebox, larger TB, Thermoblock spacers, Pulley Kit and a P2R plenum would probably give me about 40-50hp at the crank.

So i need some advice guys and i'll be waiting for the answers

Remove spare tire, jack, anything in the trunk, back and passenger seats, keep 1 gal of gas in the tank, go on a diet.
know that the CLS is a nicer, rarer, more refined and reliable car than an Altima.
shoulda got a 6 speed too, maybe not faster but more fun.
good luck, modding.

With your car being so much older its almost pointless to try to catch up to modern technology and what they put into new cars today. Esp. Nissian and there killer torque. Yea you can put 2K into your car and yes you will be faster until he gets headers and what ever else..in my opinion I rather just make my car the way it is and enjoy it (If you want a 0-60 monster go by a Mustang... if you want a nice luxery, reliable coupe that is just slightly slower but a hell of alot more rare and better looking I say enjoy your CL)..and I rather just save my $ for a nice down payment on hopefully an Acura 09 coupe...maybe even an 2010 coupe....just my .

^^^ thats a really good point. I just kinda got all pissed off that he will be in my face about having a faster car than me. I'm still gonna mod my car, but not to the extent that I wanted to. I'm just gonna do some simple stuff, headers, icebox and exhaust and maybe a drop in the near future and i'll be more than happy.

from the looks of the latest news on tov.net there will be no acura coupe.

see this article for the new acura coupe...."honda CL type S"

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=103650

this will be the closest thing to a new acura coupe we will see.

So your luxury coupe isn't quite as fast as a similar car...do you live your life a 1/4 mile at a time? Do you really have the need to be able to edge past him? Like someone else said, all he has to do is buy the same mods and you've wasted your money.

Our cars are not race cars, they're luxury coupes with some balls.

edit: Anyone buying an Altima because they want a performance oriented car should do a little more homework too.

anyways... just throw on those headers first. you should get some good top end gains with those. from there i would either get an intake or a UR pulley. you can also get some sort of high flowing cat

thats why im building my k20a turbo crx ..and the cl-s is a NEAR LUXURY coupe. my other cls is a full luxury buddy and let me tell you they are not in the same class, but for some reason I love my acura 6 speed cl-s, I have owned 2 before and bought a third because I missed my last cl-s 6.

Exactly!!!!!
He won't be smiling when a 08 Accord coupe, Mustang GT, Old Camaro SS, CTS, WRX, EVO.... pull up next to him and pull on him. Point is there is someone always faster. Just do things to your car that you are going to enjoy and reflects you as a person and exceptionality. Anybody can go fast.

Me and my friends have a pretty big pecking order when it comes to whos car is faster and if I was you and the Altima was in reach of being smoked by me i'd do everything in my power to mod my car (without going FI) just to stay in front of him

Thats exactly the way I feel!! It really gets on my nerves when a friends of mine has anything better than me. We always compete for who has the best anything, thats just the way we are. And if i was planning on selling my car, i wouldn't put as much money into it as I am planning on doing, because then i think its just a waste of $$$ to put a few grand worth of mods into your car and then sell it. Then you are just wasting money. I am never selling this CL, it is my first car and the current love of my life so I am gonna do a few mods and see how it goes.

Just like when either me or my older bro take our '91 Galant VR4 (#1171 of 2000) that we've had since new with a few added choice mods ....people sometimes have no idea what the hell just passed 'em...HAH!!! I also like the faces of some youngsters when we surprise them in their Evos, STis, etc etc...

Well thanks now you'll have me looking to catch up to one of them and see if the guy behind the wheel can reproduce those results.

And I know what you mean. We spend time and money to make our cars faster, then something new rolls off the factory floor that's even faster. Like the new 335i, that just not right running those speeds without mods. Looks like the Muscle Car HP wars of the late 60s - early 70s are back.

So why was an Acura CL the choice of car you went with? I'll never understand why people who only want to go fast buy cars that aren't made with that in mind.

Buy a Fox Body Mustang or an F body Camaro/Firebird and with simple bolt ons and tweaks you will be well over 300hp. Would probably cost less than a CL too.

But if you want to rag out your 14 second Honda, by all means beat the shit out of it wishing it was able to keep up with a $5k domestic car.

I ripped a CVT V6 Altima Coupe pretty bad, but a 6-speed will prob be a little faster. I still don't believe they are far out of our reach at all.

6 speed altima coupes are running 14.4-14.8 in the quarter depending on driver and weather conditions, so they are by no means out of reach! now if you were talking about a new g37 coupe, they run 13.9-14.3 stock, so thats a little harder......Plus our cars look a little better in my opinion than the altima anyways...headers and intake should put you ahead of him, and thats cheap, so try that and see...gl

So why am I worried?

I'm already running 14.4-14.5 without headers, pullies, BBTB, Plenum, and whatever else comes along. So this and the G37 are already within range of becoming another kill on my list

Wait, there's still a 3.5 build up, NOS, Turbo or S/C if it really bothered me that much. And since a new car is so much more expensive, any of these options are much more economical.

But remember, there will always be someone faster. Today top dog, tomorrow dog shit.

what was th reason for buying the CL anyways. Was it for speed or luxury. Get over it. The CL is a great luxury coupe with some balls... Your racing a altima.. now where close to the luxrious things the CL has... Plus the Cl is five or more years old and can still keep up with newer gen model cars.. I love my cl and I wouldnt take my rear seats out or spare tires out just because I want to beat a car in a random street encounter... Sorry for the rant

^^^ I agree, don't take out the seats and jack, that's just cheating IMO.

I don't get why all the sudden there's a bunch of people saying don't mod your CL because it isn't worth it when at any given time there's ten threads on XS headers or what can I do to get more HP. The best part about the CL IMO is it flies under the radar as a performance car, so with headers, CAI and pulleys it's that much more a sleeper. I say go for it. Yeah, there's always going to be someone faster, but if you get satisfaction from modding your car, then do it.

Exactly im not just doing it to specifically beat myt friends, but it just gives me more motivation to mod my car. I was always planning on modding my car, its just that now i have to get it all done in a shorter time period. And i really enjoy modding and working on my car. I didnt buy it just for luxury or just for performance. I knew that there werre more luxurious and faster cars. But the perfect combo of luxury/performance and the styling and rareity of the CL is what attracted me to it.

So i compiled a list of what i plan to do to my car and you guys are welcome to say your opinion...

In no specific order

XS Headers
Icebox
TB Spacer
Pulley Kit
P2R Plenum
CF Hood/Trunk with CF M3 Spoiler
Custom magnaflow exhaust
19" AVS Advan Model 5's
Sways/strutbar
K-Sport Coilovers
Rotora BBK
Front Tl Lip and Versus side skirts and rear bumper

Dude shut your mouth with your useless ass post and just close the Internet Window. Comming in here and talking shit I could of bought a piece of shit 1g DSM, put 2k in it and smoke that 5k muscle car you speak of. The CL is way more classier and luxurious than any piece of shit F Body that I "COULD OF BOUGHT"
