This thread is about a kid who wants to beat his friend’s Nissan Altima in his Acura CL, a couple kids racing endangering my life in their less-than-fast cars. Is there a reason you keep talking about jerking off in circles?

I didn’t say you couldn’t buy a DSM and have a fast car for $5k now, did I, punk? Learn how to read before flying off the handle. An LS1 is much more reliable and cheaper to work on than a busted ass early 90’s DSM that will break every other week. “The CL is way more classier and luxurious” ORLY??? Maybe that’s because LIKE I ALREADY SAID in post #9 it’s a luxury coupe. Thanks for backing me up though, bro. And your $5k DSM is not going to “smoke” an LS1 powered car, but that’s for another day.

Exactly my point. If I want to go fast, I hop in my buddy's C6 Z06 or his pop's E63. I'm not much of a speed freak personally though.

Thanks! I saw an article of one in a mag, I think "Modified", which featured a green one putting out 450 hp!!! I'd say this can be called Evo 0 since they were released prior to Evos being available to us on this side of the pond....

6 speed altima coupes are running 14.4-14.8 in the quarter depending on driver and weather conditions, so they are by no means out of reach! now if you were talking about a new g37 coupe, they run 13.9-14.3 stock, so thats a little harder......Plus our cars look a little better in my opinion than the altima anyways...headers and intake should put you ahead of him, and thats cheap, so try that and see...gl

I already got my XS Headers, but i figured an icebox, then swaybars and strut. And once winter is over and the snow is gone im gonna drop it with the KSports and then the CF hood and trunk w/cf lip spoiler and then wheels/tires

I know that this is a pretty pricey list and a few things on this list might not get done, but its nice to dream. I just gotta sve up so that i can start modding in spring

 

U sure u wanna go 19s with the coilovers son? I know some folks in NJ that tell me roads ain't exactly friendly to rims & suspension there. Then again,they could be just sayin' that since last time they came for a visit was over 10 years ago... Also, our local roads here happen to be one of the 10 worst roads in the nation... Try checking out the BM once in a while to see if you can find some deals, I know I have....

yea man, ever since i got my 19's on i've gotten prolly about .2 slower, so if i could do it again, i'd go 18's, also remember those 19's tires are pretty expensive, more so than 20's and 18's

 

ya ive been thinkin about it and 18's really do sound better. And they are cheaper

 

I am a tech at Nissan and i would never ever ever ever trade my CL for ANY Nissan EVER. Even the new Coupe lol...i drove it it has torque, but thats about it. Interior is cheap as ever, had on come in the other day with the VDC, Trac, Brake light on. With only 5k mi...ended up the guy needed brakes and rotors already. Only 2/32 of an inch left. The campaigns for the new Altimas are never ending, air filters that catch on fire, I-Keys that short out, and quality control problems. You can't compare a Acura with a Nissan. (=

 

Really??!! That's some disturbing news...brakes AND rotors at 5k??? Damn, sux for that guy....
Can't compare a Nissan to an Acura?? I guess, since I love my car I gotta agree with ya there, but there's always that elusive Nissan that will always stand out for me as the ultimate....R34!!!!

 

And you can use the money you saved for more mods!

 

Listen buddy. Enjoy the fuk out ur CL. I love my car and I may not have engine mods but its fast as it. Dont even compare our cars to an altima coupe. We have more luxury, rareness, looks, etc.... Guaranteed any of us can pull more dimes in our car than ur buddy with his altima. So no worries brotha. If he beats u in a race have a contest on who can pull more chicks in a night

 

if you are really concerned about speed go with SSR or gram lights or equivalent 17's. 18's at most, 19's will kill your acceleration. You can get a cheaper intake than an icebox for the same gains.

Intake, headers, pulleys should be your first mods if you are really just concerned about being faster than your friend.
