Octane

Does anyone here think it is neccessary to use higher octane? I dont think I notice a differenence when i use 87

Comments?

Lots of threads about these things.

The Octane will just retard timing if you don't use the octane recommended.

You will lose top end hp. So lets say your car dyno's 210hp, you probably would max out around 200-205 with the lower octane.

I don't have actual proof of this, but it's what i read.

I also got 1-2 mpg worse when I use 87, but thats hard to judge because so many factors can account for 2mpg difference on a tank.

Same here. I also noticed lower MPG. About loss of HP its hard to tell but i imagine its true, i doubt Acura wanted us to waste extra money on more expensive gas if it wasnt necessary

I used 87 octane when i first bought my car not knowing that i was supposed to use a higher octance. All six of my injectors had to be replaced due to being clogged, at dealers cost.

Ive been using 87 since the day I bought mine. I don't think I ever put in 93 haha

i think fuzzy said it best...
if you cant afford the extra 3 bucks a tank then you shouldent be driving an acura...

basicaly the posetives outweght (i know, sp?) the negatives on this one
trust us, use the 93 octane, thats what the ENGINEERS designed the car to run on, therfore USE IT!!!
thats what most will say
