OBX Headers are on!!!!

ok where do i start. first i'll talk about the install. every thing during the install went very smooth, there was no fitment issues or anything like that. the only problem i had was with the mechanic that worked at the place. first he's like i'm gonna have to charge you extra for installing the aftermarket down pipe. i'm like wtf are you talkin about i cant keep the fuckin stock down pipe ad aftermarket heads. so hes like ok and goes back to work. this really pissed me off that he tryed to get more money outta ne cause i guess he thinks cause i'm young that i dont know shit and i'm dumb. then later on hes like obx shorted a exhaust ring/donut, hes like you only have 2 and you need 3, i'm gonna have to order a new one and your gonna pay for it. i said go back and look in the box and you'll find what ever you need, i know this guy was just tryin to hustle me. i was soo pissed at this summa bitch i was about to tell him to put the stock ones back on and leave. but i was too anxious to get the headers on. he had to disconnect the battery, i dunno if thats neccessary or not but i just told him to go a head so that would reset the ecu anyways. he also used the stock gaskets and i have NO RESONANCE at 2800 rpm. what really impressed me though is that this guy got te job done in less than 2 hours by him self while answering the phones n shit. i was gonna give him a tip but said fuck it cause he tryed to hustle me.

but now onto the performance, i drove for a few miles before i really let em loose but when i punched it at 20mph the tach needle flew to the redline. the car feels much stonger after 4k. but ima take it easy on the headers for a day or two to let em break in. i think i'm gonna dyno my car now, how much does it usually cost to dyno??

sorry for the long post

yea, if u use the obx gaskets u get this weird sound at 2800 rpm, i used the stock gaskets and i dont hear any thing, but this guy said the headers might leak w/ the stock gaskets. i dont think this is true, this guy was just dumb(the mechanic)

Give them a chance, you will get the weird sound at 2800 rpm. I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the gaskets. If the gasket is vibrating, then you have am exhaust leak!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i HIGHLY doubt they're gonna leak, but with OBX, u never know...if u wanna check periodically, take off the front pipes and look at the gasket...if u see black lines anywhere around the rings from the inside to the outside, then u got leaks, otherwise, yer fine

congrats on the headers...hope they give u the power u wanted and more!!

Told ya using the stock gaskets you won't hear really any resonance!

The OBX ones LEAK! Anyways, glad to hear the install. After doing it once on my car, I was able to uninstall the obx and install the stock ones in 1.5 hrs by myself! :P

the resonance will grow louder with time, let the headers break in a little bit. youll start to notice a totally different exhaust tone coming from under the hood.

First of all, congrats on your headers -- nice mod!

Secondly, disconnecting your battery will not reset your ECU. What you need to do is disconnect the black (negative) cable and take out the fuse for your clock for a minute. The reason for this is when your battery is disconnected, the ECU runs off the backup fuse/clock fuse.

Disconnecting the Negative for 2 hrs will reset the ECU.
