Are NSXs Hella-Expensive to maintain?

I've always loved that car, but it'll stay a dream if the car costs boocoo monay to repair and service.

It will stay a dream because they are expensive to maintain. Just ask Shawn S, i think he was going to buy a used one until he found out the maintence costs.

yah i think so..there is no such expensive cars and cheap to maintein..right....and insurance is not cheap either

Actually I've heard that the NSX is one of the most reliable "exotic" cars to own....mainly because it's Japanese. I do agree though that hi-performance = hi-maintenance.

Check this months owners survey in the August Road & Track magazine.
It seems that the NSX is very reasonable to maintain, except that it goes through tires quickly.
Seems reasonable to buy (used), too.

There's a lot of labor involved if and when you replace the timing belt because of the engine layout but otherwise the maintanence isn't that bad. Body work is kinda expensive because of the aluminum body. I was thinking about buying an early 90s NSX with the 3.0 but I couldn't justify spending $30K on a 10 year old car.

Not saying all these guys are lying or anything and what each have said seems logical... but to get a real, from-experience answers u should just go to a NSX board.. like this one:

U can tell many guys on this board have bought their nsx used so u'll get a definite opinion and not just speculations.

nsx not a maintenance nightmare

My ex-girlfriend has a 95 (she's had it for over 3 years) and has had no problems with it. She just changes the fluids regularly and goes through tires a lot. I've driven it, that's one fun car.

Thanks man. I could afford to buy the car, but I just don't think I have the bling-bling to make repairs. Looks like I'll put it off for another couple of years. However, it is good to know that it's an exotic I could drive every day if I chose.

NSX's are the most reliable exotic ever made. Tell me what exotic offers a tune-up at 105,000 miles?? Ferrari's need major service every 15,000, where the engine has to be removed from the chassis to do service and replace the timing belts; etc.. If I were you I would stay away from the '90, '91. They have tranny problems. Other than normal maintenance, tires need frequent replacement. It's reliable as any Honda.

If I were to chose NSX or Z06....

I would take the Z06 spend some $10K more on full custom interior and another $10K on Supercharger and I would still save
and still keep $20k more in the bank.

NSX is NOT a value Supercar, it is overpriced 10-year old tech car.

I'm not looking to buy a new NSX. I'm looking at the $35k range. Not to mention that I hate Corvettes and wouldn't buy one if I had the money. I think Corvettes are too big, the driving position in relation to the length of the hood is crappy, and they are way too common.

But you're entitled to your opinion ... =)
